Followup: KUOW checks back on Beloved Mexico and its owner

In February 2011, much concern was expressed when KUOW reported on the Beloved Mexico food truck that has been a fixture next to West Seattle Produce, saying its owner Christian Guerrero had lost his day job, and the truck was struggling. Reporter Deborah Wang e-mailed us to let us know she followed up, and the story is airing on their station today – but you can listen to/read it here now. Things, she reports, are looking up.

It’s so nice to hear/read good news for a change…love that! Congratulations Christian!

If you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend Beloved Mexico. Their food is extremely good and fresh. I also enjoyed chatting with Christian and admit to being disappointed that he isn’t there during the day. But I figured that he must have returned to a “regular” job, and that was good news. I appreciated the follow-up story. Continued success to Christian and his family.

We love beloved Mexico. Glad that Christian has his old job back and that the truck will keep going as well !

listened to the story this morning and I thought KUOW said he started the truck after he lost his day job. (not that he had lost his day job AND the truck was struggling at the same time).
I was glad to hear that the original story (jan 2011) increased business and things are looking up for him now that he has his engineering job back.

I’m back from vacation so the truck will do better!

I have recommended Beloved Mexico to all my friends in West Seattle. Their food is excellent! However, I’ve had really bad customer service almost every time I’ve visited when Christian isn’t working. Tell your family they should smile more often :D I’m glad things are looking up for you!

Thanks for the posting! In response to an earlier comment, Christian first lost his job, then started the taco truck, then got his job back. The truck survives and is on the same intersection (Fauntleroy and Alaska) but is now parked directly across the street. You can find Christian there most evenings after work.

Sorry, comment time is over.
