For the second consecutive night, West Seattle High School hosted Chief Sealth International HS for a varsity-basketball matchup. Tonight, the girls played – and as with last night’s boys’ game, Sealth came away with the win. Details ahead:

WSB co-publisher Patrick Sand covered the game:

It was the night of the full-court press, and as it went on, the Seahawks found themselves a step quicker and more able to get a handle on the ball as they cruised to a 55-39 win against the Wildcats in the last regular-season meeting of the two teams.

Neither team came out strong right out of the blocks, but a quick exchange of baskets pushed both teams into playing the full length of the court. Sealth managed to overcome that with fairly consistent outside shooting. The top scorers were West Seattle senior Haily Hage with 15 points and Sealth senior Victoria Elleby with 16.

This was Sealth’s first win in two weeks and it keeps them in second place in the Metro Sound Division. Coach Katie Maris says this means they still have a shot at getting into a playoff game, depending on how the season winds up this weekend.
