West Seattle Weather Watch: ‘Freezing-fog advisory’ tonight

Thanks to Shannon for sharing that view of tonight’s sweet sunset, photographed from Fauntleroy. The clearing just over the mountains at sunset time is related to the reason there’s a new weather alert out tonight – a “freezing-fog advisory”, from the National Weather Service, takes effect at 10 pm. It’s not just about fog-related visibility problems, but potentially icy-slick streets, especially bridges. We’ll monitor traffic closely tomorrow morning, just in case it leads to any problems.

Great picture. I really like the rays! What do you suppose made the bright spot above the ferry? Is it a hole in the clouds, or something on the lens?

Great shots. But PLEASE be careful shooting directly into the sun with any camera. Not only can you burn out your camera’s sensor faster than you can say “Daedalus” but you can cause yourself permanent retina damage.

ROADS STILL FROSTY as of 9AM!
Freezing fog may have lifted, but the frost left behind is still there. I took a fall from my bicycle trying to get on E. Marginal Way. Be careful out there on 2 wheels or 4 wheels!
