Weekend traffic reminder: Alaskan Way Viaduct closures

Reminder – the Alaskan Way Viaducts semi-annual checkup is this weekend, so it’s scheduled to be closed 6 am-6 pm both Saturday and Sunday. (They tend to finish and reopen early on Sundays – if that happens, we’ll have updates here as well as via Facebook and Twitter.) This is the first inspection closure since the new 4th Avenue offramp opened, so you don’t have to go all the way to I-5 to get off The Bridge eastbound.

I’m digging the new 4th Street off ramp for this very reason. Now me and my little guy can hit the zoo tomorrow!

I was amazed that the informational signs on Fauntleroy just north of Alaska actually mentioned this.

And look for more information on those signs coming soon too … we’re expecting info later today on travel times to be included on a couple of the West Seattle signs as soon as next week, per SDOT – TR

I think the cardboard sign at the 99 onramp states it will be closed from 9PM to 5AM. Are they trying to confuse us again?

Debbie – that sign is for a DIFFERENT closure of the ramp (we mentioned it here earlier this week) coming up 10/20-10/21. I agree, confusing. The Viaduct closure itself is definitely 6 am-6 pm both days this weekend (and again, as previously stated, MIGHT end earlier on Sunday) – TR
