High-school football: Chief Sealth homecoming loss to Hale

The game’s over at Southwest Athletic Complex – Nathan Hale 52, Chief Sealth International High School 34. More to come, including touchdown video plus the band’s halftime performance on the field. ADDED EARLY SATURDAY: That’s all after the jump:

Usually five touchdowns would be enough to win a game. But not Friday night for Sealth – Nathan Hale just had more, including a couple of TDs on breakaway runs. However, Sealth put up a good fight, and even led in the early going – 14-12 as of a few minutes into the second quarter, before Hale kicked into higher gear.

Notable at halftime: The Sealth band took the field for the first time this season (usually playing from the stands), with choreographed numbers – here are two, starting with the fight song (note the “CS” formation):

Next Friday, it’s the traditional crosstown-rival game, the Huling Bowl, Sealth vs. WSHS.

The band was amazing! I was there watching my brother-in-law kick for Hale but was so proud to be sitting in the crowd as a Sealth alum. Watching the band made me really proud to have been a part of it years ago. The dancing they did was way cooler than the dancing we did back then! Marcus is most certainly a treasure for the Sealth band, and he clearly has an extremely talented group.

The boys on the football team certainly played their hearts out. Go Hawks!

It was quite the halftime show. We have to rush off to something else now before uploading the video, but we’ll definitely have vid here within a few hours. – TR
