Fauntleroy updates: 20 tons recycled! Plus, art deadline ahead

Fauntleroy Church‘s second recycling event of the year had an even bigger response than the first one – that’s the first of two Fauntleroy updates from Judy Pickens:

Sunday’s Recycle Roundup sponsored by the green committee at Fauntleroy Church relieved West Seattle residents of 20+ tons of recyclables. A steady stream of donors filled five large trucks with everything from computers to bicycles and dishwashers. 1 Green Planet will disassemble everything responsibly for use in making new products.

Now, a look ahead to a big event later this fall:

Judy continues:

Photographer Mark Morgan, shown here with a prospective customer, found last year’s art show at Fauntleroy Church well worth his time. Be among the West Seattle artists and crafters at the 2010 Fine Art and Holiday Gift Faire Nov. 19-21! Details and application form at www.fauntleroyucc.org. Deadline is Sept. 30. I’m really sorry I missed the recycling event – I have a lot of good stuff that could have been recycled. When is the next event?

I don’t see a link to an application form and details of the gift faire in November anywhereon the site you linked – just a listing of dates.

Carole – it seems to have vanished. I will ask Judy where to find it – I’m pretty sure it’s been there before; we’ve had the listing in our calendar for a while, but I can’t find it anywhere on the site either. Stand by!

The next recycling date hasn’t been set yet. We did one this past spring and Sunday was our fall event — the response was great both times. The church’s green committee will be discussing our 2011 calendar in the next few months, and another recycling event is sure to be on the horizon. You can bet we’ll let the fine folks at WSB know when it gets scheduled. So stay tuned to the blog!

PS: Thanks to everyone who brought their unwanted items – 1 Green Planet recycles everything locally, which provides jobs here and doesn’t ship our waste overseas. And a HUGE thanks to everyone who made a donation. Your generosity raised nearly $700 to support the green ministry program at Fauntleroy Church (we hosted the event). Environmental gold stars to all!

Sorry, comment time is over.
