Followup: Investigators seek witnesses to White Center shooting

A followup this morning on the deadly shooting early Saturday in White Center (here’s our original report), a case with which police and fire crews from West Seattle initially assisted since it was reported right on the city/county line – King County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking for help from anyone who may have seen something – click ahead to see their news release:

A shooting early Saturday morning (May 22nd 15th) left a man dead in a White Center street. The incident occurred about 2:30 AM.

The victim was found in the eastbound lanes of the 1500 block of SW Roxbury Street. He was dead when police arrived after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a shooting. He was shot at least once, and in his early 20’s.

According to a witness who was driving by and heard several gunshots, the man stumbled out of an alley and collapsed in the street. There were numerous people in the alley, but most were gone when Sheriff’s deputies arrived, just minutes later.

No one has come forward who actually witnessed the shooting.

If anyone has information on the case they are asked to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at (206) 296-3311 (24 hours) or 9-1-1.

I hope the police can get this solved. I live on 21st and Roxbury and have watched this part of the city fall deeper and deeper into a mess of homelessness, mental illness and thugs.

Both King Co. and Seattle need to figure out what they want to do with this area. Right now, neither one is devoting enough time to it.

We wish Officer Steve Cox was still with us down here.

That specific alley is pretty bad. At night it always looks like something illegal is occurring or about to occur. I wouldn’t mind some cameras installed there.

This spot has been a war zone for years. The Seattle Police and the King County Cops want nothing to do with it. It is a no-mans land as far as the the cops and creeps are concerned. It will not stop until a cop is there 24/7. One of the most deadly areas in Seattle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
