West Seattle weekend scenes: Hiawatha pancakes, playfield

The friendly folks at the Hiawatha Community Center benefit pancake breakfast this morning said we’d JUST missed the mega-rush, when we dropped in for photos around 11 am. Glad to hear it was a success. We got to say hi to the person who often shares advance notice of major Hiawatha events, Lakema Bell (right):

And right outside, a built-in constituency for breakfast – crowds of young athletes and their families, enjoying the newly renovated Hiawatha field:

Many local teams have been celebrating its completion, including the West Seattle Soccer Club (for whom registration is under way right now).

Just some info. The Seattle Quake Rugby team (http://www.quakerugby.org)is now playing there and would love to have people come watch us practice at the pitch and learn about the game.

Would love to report on them. Don’t think we’ve heard from ’em before. E-mail us info at editor@westseattleblog.com – would love to put games into our events calendars and whatever else is appropriate! Thanks!

Sorry, comment time is over.
