Followup: Brief update on 12-year-old attack victim

This morning, Seattle Police have updated their SPDBlotter site with a quick item on a story reported here yesterday afternoon, a 12-year-old boy attacked at Southwest Community Center with what was reported to be a backpack full of rocks. What’s new in the update: His injuries are NOT believed to be life-threatening; the girl accused of attacking him is also 12, and they were not strangers.

    Any “reasons” given yet?

Not officially. There are various reports that they argued over something. I will be looking for the official police report of the incident (the actual one filed, beyond the SPDBlotter summary, which is written by the department’s media unit) … TR

The comments on the King5 website (around page 5 as of 3 pm Tues) include information from people who say they know the students involved. They claim that the boy has a record of sexually harassing girls at school and that parents have complained to school officials and the district. I hope more accurate information comes out of this–not to put the boy/girl on the spot, but to help us figure out how future incidents can be avoided.

Why would a twelve-year-old girl be carrying a packback full of rocks? Books, maybe.

Maybe because he sexually harrassed the girls? Rocks are harder than books!

Like the scene out of “A Christmas Story” where the bully gets pummelled?

Sorry, comment time is over.
