12-year-old boy in the hospital after West Seattle attack

Also from our conversation with Lt. Steve Paulsen at the Southwest Precinct – and also thanks to Tony for letting us know that what sounded on the scanner like a call from outside this area actually DID happen in West Seattle: A 12-year-old boy is at Harborview Medical Center with a head injury after getting beaten with a “backpack full of rocks” at Southwest Community Center. Lt. Paulsen says police have spoken with the suspect, a girl “of similar age.” It happened this morning but no other details of the circumstances are available so far, nor do we know how badly the boy was hurt.

This is just heartbreaking. I am thinking of him and his family at this time. Clearly he was hurt bad if he went to Harborview. I assume this was the reason SPD flew down Thistle today. I hope the girl gets the help she needs. So sad.

Yes, lot’s of anger being expressed to hit someone with a backpack full of rocks…very sad and tragic. Hope he recovers and she gets the help she needs.

Human beings are so horrible to each other. We are disgraceful creatures of God.

My heart breaks for both of these children, and their families. It’s amazing to me sometimes what children do to their peers (adults, too), that they don’t think of the repercussions beforehand.

I hope this boy recovers…and that she gets the help she needs…how very sad…

It’s very sad that (I am assuming) something happened that ticked her off and she made a plan to get back at him by beating him with a backpack full of rocks! I hope the biy was not badly hurt and will recover. I also hope that this little girl gets some serious help!

These stories make me so sad, I’m nearly sick to my stomach. How in the world do children learn to be so violent? Where are the parents? What have they taught their children? What were they weaned on? Violence and abuse? “We will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.” Baba Dioum, Noted African Environmentalist……….
I hope and pray that this violent little being has decent reading and writing skills as she will need them for pen pals while she spends most of her lifetime in and out prisons. So incredibly sad. Rehabilitation and hope, prayer, grace and forgiveness should replace her bag of rocks……

reminds me of when I was 12 and knocked unconscious at school. All the school leaders said to my parents is the other kid was abused at home and they can’t do anything, it’s up to ME (the victim) to fight back and be suspended for a week (their words) for fighting. That was Northshore School District btw.

Oh my goodness! That is terrible news. I very much hope that he is ok. I hope that both he and the girl get the care that they need.

Vanessa, your quote is nice but, obviously you’ve never lived with personality disorder or bi-polar disease. These cases are definitely NOT the result of poor parenting. Just saying.

Sorry, comment time is over.
