West Seattle Crime Watch: Seen this missing motorcycle?

From Mary at Twilight Art Collective (west of Easy Street in The Junction), who usually e-mails us about openings and parties (like their Halloween gala), but is reporting something much different today:

Sad news from us this time. My motorcycle that I often park in front of the gallery was stolen from right in front of my house on 32nd and Holden last night 10.22.08. It’s a German-made MZ 125 sm. Very rare in these parts. I’ve made a flyer with two similar bikes. Mine is black with grey logos exactly like the ones on the lower picture. Please help!!

Here’s that flyer (Wednesday night update, Mary sends word that the reward is up to $500):

Our scooter club is based in, and has a bunch of it’s members here in West Seattle. I just posted a link to the posting on our Forum. That’s a lovely and unique looking bike; we’ll definitely be on the look out for it.

I’ll keep an eye out for it too. I commute everyday on my bike and can’t imagine what a punch in the gut it’d be if my ride (Yamaha FJR) was every stolen. Really odd that someone went for your 125 MZ, it is indeed very, very rare. Maybe it was just a joy ride and it’ll show up in the next few days. Again, I’ll keep watch for it and call the cops if I see anything.

So sorry to learn of your stolen bike. I’m a firm believer that ANY stolen bike is a threat to the entire biking community. I’ll be keeping a look out here in the Queen Anne area. I feel your pain!

Do they have MZ dealers in the US? I am looking for a decent bike under 400cc but they all seem to only be available everywhere but the US.

I’m sorry to hear of you loss. That really sucks. I had my black GSXR stolen 2 months ago from the front of my apt in the Alaska Junction. I hope that it turns up for you. Mine is gone though, just waiting for insurance to wrap up so I can try to pick up a new one.

Speaking of, I think it would be nice to have a local riders get-together so we can all meet officially and help keep an eye on each others investment.

    Mary,
Very unfortunate incident, sorry this happened to you. I’ll definitely keep my eyes open in my hood of Top Hat and White Center. I’m surprised to see there’s another MZ in West Seattle, I just got a 2003 MZ Baghira Street Moto 660. It’s my first bike and I love it. I’d be super pissed if someone swiped mine! I’m actually pretty paranoid about that happening so I almost always use the wheel lock that the seller was nice enough to throw in when I bought the bike. It’s like a padlock type device that goes through the holes on the front break rotor and prevents the wheel from rotating. Really messes things up if you forget to remove it though, or so I’ve heard.

Again, good luck getting it back and I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

Thank you to everyone! The reward has gone up to $500 thanks to donations from the biker community. If this bike comes back to me I will be eternally grateful. Mary

SeanS, there is also a version of those locks that will set off an alarm if the bike is moved/bumped.

I just got a call from a local who witnessed my bike being ridden thru the junction on wed the 22nd the morning it was stolen! it was between 10:45 and 11. He was a tall skinny white male in his late 20’s early 30’s heading West on Alaska and turned right on California toward the Admiral area. Wearing black pants and jacket and a backpack with a dirt bike helmet. The witness said he looked very comfortable, just another day commuting to work. He was on my bike however. This bike is the only one of it’s kind in the NW. Only three were imported and this is the only one that was black and grey. Where is this guy??? Thanks for keeping your eyes peeled!

Good news. I got my motorrad back. It was recovered from 102 30th ave sw in a 30 ft ditch. They took the starter and stripped the ignition, but she will rise again! Thanks for the help and support :)

Sorry, comment time is over.
