Stolen pugs update: Reward, possible sighting

pug30.jpg pug31.jpg

We have two updates from Greg, son of the Arbor Heights couple whose two pugs were taken by burglars (here’s the original report; here’s our update from yesterday, after police received information confirming they were stolen): First, he says a $1,000 reward is offered, “no questions asked”; second, he says, “Somebody thought they saw a wandering pug on Barton 1 block west of Delridge. If you are in the area, please keep an eye out. If you see a pug that looks lost, please take it to the vet. The two stolen pugs are microchipped.”

We were at Westwood village about 45 min. ago and saw a pug that looked lost. In fact he/she almost got hit as we were wondering where he/she had come from. We were down at Barnes and Noble and the pug was across the street to the south of us. I hope this helps.

Is anyone actually trying to catch the critter, or has anyone called animal control? Posting here isn’t going to help much if he gets hit by a car!

I can call animal control but I am at work, downtown, on the bus, so I can’t get over to Westwood to catch him.

What is up with all the animal stealing here in Seattle…it is just awful. I have lived in many places and not seen the likes of this. And yes if you see a lost dog for heavens above do something other then post here DUH

I so want those dogs to be found safe. If I didn’t have to be at work, I’d be over in Westwood looking.

I have forwarded the info to Greg, in case they are not already out. In people’s defense, it’s not always obvious what you’re seeing, till you learn later about something that puts it into context. Kind of like the person who stole them in the first place; according to police, as we reported yesterday, the witness didn’t realize at first that she/he was seeing a burglary in progress. I could see that happening in my neighborhood; the way the houses are set, people aren’t particularly close-knit, and I wouldn’t always know if a “visitor” at one of the houses was friend or foe.

If I see a dog without a leash, in danger, with no owner in sight, I *try* to catch him. I would especially in this case, knowing that it might be one of the missing pugs.

I live near Westwood, so I just walked down from my house on 35th to Roxhill Park and wandered down all the streets in the area between Barton and Roxbury with no luck… I usually walk around that area at least once a day anyway for exercise, so I thought I’d give it a shot a little earlier to see if I could catch myself a pug :) We’ll keep an eye out around our area- I really want to see both dogs returned safely to their home!

HAS THIS BEEN CONFIRMED YET? I mean about the Pugs have been found, I haven’t seen anything on the news etc.

Has anyone checked with the animal shelter in Kent to verify?

    thanks!

Hi, we reported this last night in a separate post after confirming with the owner. This site IS “the news” – run by two veteran journalists with more than 30 years in TV, radio, newspapers. Anyway, here’s the link to our followup story:
