Tervo’s reopens – and the suspense is over

tervotoday.jpg

OK, maybe we were the only ones in suspense, but we had been watching the blacked-out nameboard at Tervo’s Mini-Mart on Fauntleroy and wondering if perhaps the store would change its name during its closure. Not likely given the new owners had applied for a liquor license with the store name (as noted here), but anything’s possible. Anyway, today the grand opening banner’s gone up, and the new sign is up too — same name. It had been closed for about a month, undergoing renovations as part of the ownership change (previous WSB coverage here); a development proposal for the site is still in progress too. (We reported the property for sale last year; the listing is now “expired” but county online property records don’t currently have any change in ownership listed)

Hopefully the large “adult” magazine section is gone.

The 3 times I ever ventured in, Tervo’s was A-1 grotty with pervs.

I’ll have to stop in soon and see.

JimmyG- that’s why we always affectionately called it “Pervos”…

I just wish it was open on my way to work and not just on my way home.

Ok- just made my first trip to the new Tervos. It is laid out a lot better, it is cleaner and better lit. I am happy to report that the adult section is still in business- and it is nearly impossible for the little ‘uns to accidentally sneak a peak. it is essentially behind the counter now, and hidden from view unless you are buying alcohol and turn around…I talked to the clerk, the new hours should be 10-10. I went for beer, so I can only report on the beer selection- about the same as you would find at any convenience store. right now they are cash only, but should have the debit machine up and running in the next week.

JenV, I see that you have a problem with my sense of humor. Probably because I unintentionally struck a nerve when I commented on the “white cage bars” and perhaps a bit of paranoia (which was an assumption) – sorry I upset you if you were a friend of the owner or something. So really, I’m not a jerk and I wish you’d stop attacking my comments and calm down a bit. Life’s too short to stay mad…oh yeah, and the 7-11, shell, 76, all of ’em lack in the looks dept. I still don’t think the bars are necessary and remember that when they were put up there was a bit of commotion on this blog. People simply don’t want to drive into this neighborhood and see that silly stuff.

Sorry, comment time is over.
