Got crime? Do this!

Lots of WS worries lately – from Westwood vandalism to Gatewood burglaries to break-ins further north. If you have neighborhood crime concerns, you are invited to voice them tonight at the West Seattle Community Safety Partnership meeting, 7 pm @ the SW Precinct. On a related subject, a WSB reader e-mailed us asking for help with a hit-and-run that crunched his car; click ahead to read his note:

Sunday the 10th at roughly 3:30 PM at the corner of 36th ave sw and cloverdale street an Atlas Van Lines 18 wheeler got itself stuck trying to go north on 36th ave sw. In its efforts to get itself backed out and turned around it ran into Our 2003 Chevy suburban. (no note of course).

Our next door neighbors watched the truck going thru its maneuvers but did not notice any other information other than “Atlas Van Lines” on the truck. I have contacted the national and local Atlas companies and they cant determine if a truck was dispatched in West Seattle on a Sunday. (yah right). I am looking for any additional information in regards to the truck, someone in the area that was moving in or out on that Sunday. A truck number, license number, local trucking company name in addition to the Atlas info.

If you know anything about this, you can post a comment, or e-mail us and we will forward to the reader (unless he chooses to post personal contact info here).

During the night on June 10th, our car was hit at 36th and Webster..and of course…no note. The damage was minor ($1400) but we did get it fixed. We also filed a police report but with no details I know nothing will come of it.

We were not able to attend the meeting due to work schedules. Would someone who attended be willing to report back as to how it went? Ideally, were minutes taken and would they be public somewhere? Thanks!!

SO I have a question for you SW Seattle police, why is it that you mistook a married, homeowner and SPU Senior for a drug dealer and ARESTED HER, when ironically, my neighbors dealt drugs for the past year before they moved? ARE YOU THAT STUPID!?

I’ve given up hope on any police help in this neighborhood-it’s up to us!

Okay so I live around west crest park and there’s some guy who lights the water reservoir grass on fire with his mortar. There are mortars flying everywhere at west crest and the one that flew past the gates almost hit me! Kids are standing everywhere and one mortar, which is still on fire lands 2 feet from the children. Then some idiot who wants to be the ‘hero’ jumps the reservoir fence and stamps out the fire for about 5 minutes. Right as the fire department gets there he jumps the barbed wire and gets away with 2 federal offences! No one in this neighborhood cares about being a good citizen! Where’s the respect for your neighbor, the general awareness of children’s safety-common sense? If you know who the idiot who jumped the fence is, turn him in!

Somebody tell me what to do with a neighbor who burns a fire in the front yard of their apartment building everyday, all day, 7 days a week?!

Sorry, comment time is over.
