westseagrlParticipantDoes anyone else hate the Morgan Junction intersection at California and Fauntleroy? It’s frustrating as a driver but even more so as a pedestrian. The lights take forever to change and you have to push the crosswalk button before the light changes in order for it to work. If you miss the button by 1 second you are forced to wait for the next cycle.
Is there a way to start a petition or submit a complaint about this? I wish it could be changed to a “walk all ways” (like the Junction) intersection, or have the pedestrian crosswalk automatically turn on when the lights change, instead of depending on pushing buttons. It’s a busy enough intersection that I think it should at least be considered.

T RexParticipantI think they are programmed that way. If you do not push the button, they do not want you to walk just because the light is green. I would believe that is for the pedestrian’s safety. If I remember correctly this is an intersection that has the audible to alert drivers that people are walking.
I agree it is a crowded intersection and has become even more busy the last few years.
Be safe!

lindaParticipantAgreed this intersection is hosed but I’m not sure there is much that can be done. The Rapid Ride buses have the override for these lights to get them to turn green. That override means even if you do hit the button in a timely fashion, you’re likely to have to wait two cycles of the light to get a walk if a Rapid Ride bus has been through. The Rapid Ride override screws up the walk signal every single time.

westseagrlParticipantT-Rex, I get your point but many other intersections in the city auto switch to “walk” when the appropriate light turns green. They could still sound the audible alert each time as well.
Linda you are totally right about the Rapid Ride buses. I forgot about that. I just think that intersection could run much smoother if someone made a few small changes.
