West Seattle Crime Watch: Two stolen vehicles, found

Annemarie e-mailed earlier tonight about her 1983 red Toyota pickup, stolen from in front of the Tug Inn … but before we could even put up the request for you to be on the lookout for it, she says watchful West Seattleites helped find it – read on for that story plus another stolen vehicle, now found:

The upshot of Annemarie’s story:

This may be the fastest stolen /found truck report ever filed with you. Please put a BIG THANK YOU out to the very watchful and dutiful neighbors at Kenyon off Fauntleroy as they were the ones that called in a suspicious running abandoned vehicle that just happened to be our little red work truck!!! GREAT JOB WEST SEATTLEITES!!!! Proud to live here! Thanks again.

Words of thanks, also, from Basil, whose stolen Subaru was mentioned here on Monday:

Thanks to whoever found my 1984 Subaru that was stolen on 4/4/11. It is back in my possession, with only a dead battery and a damaged ignition. The blog works!

We’ll amend that to, watchful, connected (online and offline) people work. Local police make that point repeatedly too.

I made the 911 call on the red pickup. The cops thought it was the shady house south of the light at Kenyon Place on Fauntleroy.

The perp parked right next to a No Parking sign and walked around the corner. Left the engine / wipers / lights on for an hour before I called.

That house is super weird. Just thieves & druggies, not dangerous. It sticks out like a sore thumb, take a look next time you drive past.

To “I found your truck”…Since when are “thieves and druggies not dangerous”?
Seems to me that if they survive by stealing and selling/using drugs…well, they’re dangerous or at the very least, potentially dangerous.

Hello “I found your truck”, thank you sooooooo very very much for being alert and a GREAT West Seattlite! We couldn’t believe our good fortune to be able to recover the work truck. We are MOST APPRECIATIVE and simply can not thank you enough.

@Onceachef: They’re not the gun toting gangsters that are hassling people in other neighborhoods. They’re old white clowns who can’t stay off drugs, so they commit petty crimes to stay ahead of their habit. Drive by the house in the summer, you’ll see what I mean.

Sorry, comment time is over.
