For about two years now, I’ve noticed that my car remote entry doesn’t work on California Avenue SW between SW Frontenac and SW Myrtle. I once asked a barista at Cafe Ladro and he confirmed that this has long been the case, but he has no idea why. So … I thought I would try crowd sourcing this question. What is creating wireless interference in the location of Cafe Ladro, Stella Ruffingtons, Little Gym, and The West Seattle Kids Salon?

I always thought this could be of interest to other Morgan Junctioneers, so wanted to check in with you all.

I asked this same question a while back- here are the threads:

Long story short, it’s something coming from the Stella Ruffingtons building.

Has anyone filed a report with the FCC? My dad’s a Ham Operator so I’ve learned a bunch listening to his boring stories over the years, is someone operating a rogue station in the area? When my dad was a teen he used to tinker with radios so much that it interfered with everyone’s TV signal on their block until the German equivalent of the FCC started knocking on doors! He was pretty proud to have had recorded all the American music hits on tape before they came out in Germany back then. It was probably the only thing getting him cred with the cool kids back then. LOL my dad is a super dork. :)

Thanks Val for the links you provided, especially the second one, which includes your spectral analysis of the area.

Trickycoolj, I’ve thought about checking in with the FCC, but this has always seemed a bit heavy handed. Still the interference stretches very far when you consider that the it decreases as the inverse square of the distance.
