funnygirl28MemberI have a bunch of gold jewelry that I no longer wear and I was thinking of selling it while the price of gold is still high. Can anyone recommend a good, honest place in West Seattle that buys gold for a decent price? Thanks in advance for your help!

flowerpetalMemberThis has been a forum question before. I’m sure others will agree that you should consider Wyatts Jewelery in Westwood Village. I know that you will get the best rate in the greater Seattle area. You can also avoid the predatory practices that are part of the business of some of those large gold jewelry buyer outfits.

funnygirl28MemberThanks so much for the info, Flowerpetal. Just out of curiosity, do you work for Wyatt’s Jewelers and/or are you affiliated with them in some other way? Has anyone done business with West Seattle Coins?

johnnyblegsMemberI was given a gold krugerrand a while ago. I did my research trying to get the best price. I went around to a few places and ended up selling it to West Seattle Coins. They gave me the best deal and it was a added bonus selling it to someone local. I highly recommend them. Nice, knowledgeable and a very fair – very close to the current market price at the time.

Genesee HillParticipantA good friend of mine has dealt with numerous coin shops around the Seattle area. He says West Seattle Coins is at the top of the list for prices paid. My experience with them has always been positive, as well.

jwwsParticipantI sold some gold at West Seattle Coin a year or so ago – thought they were very reasonable got within $75-100 of what I estimated it was worth (and one item was just gold plate, so that explained the lower value). Before you sell anywhere, do your research – there are on-line resources to help you calculate what your gold is worth if you know the karat (10, 14, 18, 22) and weight in grams. You can then calculate versus current market value of gold.

flowerpetalMemberHi Funnygirl28. No, I don’t work for Wyatts; but I and my par amour are friendly with Wyatts. We also “know” jewelry. What I don’t know is coins and it seems that the conversation might be steering in that direction.
Let us know where you end up going to, and good luck!

funnygirl28MemberThanks everyone for all the helpful info. I’m going to take my jewelry to a few places for estimates and I’ll let you know where I get the best deal!

westcoastdebParticipantI have delt with West Seattle Coin before. They were more than fair and very nice people to deal with . The only bad thing I can say about them is that the check they wrote me for the gold bounced. When we got the letter from the bank that said it did, West Seattle Coin paid us cash for the value of the check plus the bounced check fee, which was more than fair, but I feel the need to get that out there.

celeste17ParticipantEither King 5 or Kiro just did a segement about gold and gold prices and they got their best price from WS Coin. They went there first and got an estimate on what the value was and then shopped around and never got any where near what they were offering.

flowerpetalMemberInteresting Celeste! Do you have a link to that news story, it would be informative reading. I wonder if Wyatts was one of their stops.

flowerpetalMemberI found the newslink that KIRO did. I think it must be the one you were referencing Celeste. Interesting that they only identify West Seattle Coin and none of the other businesses that they secretly shopped at. Interesting too, that West Seattle Coin is a paid advertiser on KIRO.
Who knows, the whole story could be legitimate and done well, but it does naturally raise some questions.
The shop around advice is still good advice; and certainly a seller might want to include West Seattle Coin in those stops.
Here’s the link:
