In2theknightMember“My Way” from Frank Sinatra.
“…I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that, and may I say, not in a shy way. Oh no, oh no not me. I did it myyyyyyyy waaaaaaaay.”
Why the question? Because I’m curious. And tired of health care, economy, wars, Jon & Kate, gun control debates, tunnel/elevated/surface options, “does that runner have lady bits or a man-rig”, etc.

LindseyParticipant“Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves. It’s not really my life’s theme song (my favorite tunes are kinda sad and slow) but I force myself to sing it and dance to it when I’m bummin. Woo!

DunnoParticipantJungle Boogie-Kool and the Gang. Cause its a jungle out there and I gotta boogie? LOL First song to come to my mind and I love it!

JanSParticipant“Feelin’ Good” from The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd” (broadway show)
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good

JoBParticipantJoB shows both her sappy side and her age..
i grew up on musicals.. what can i say :)
Somewhere
Barbra Streisand
Someday, somewhere
Well find a new way of living
Will find a way of forgiving
Somewhere…
Theres a place for us
Somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere

charlabobParticipantI’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, Warren Zevon — who’s now dead, so he knows. My guess? He ain’t sleeping :-) Seriously, this song is my theme song.

DunnoParticipantTraci,
You made me think of the other part of my life.
Bon Jovi-Livin on a Prayer! That should work for most of us!
My partner thinks I’m pretty strange putting out Jungle Boogie, but thats the first song that came to mind?
On that note, even if you all think this thing out also add the first tune to pop to mind!

In2theknightMemberLowmanbeach, it think it’s funny how your life theme song has a line from mine. “…like Frankie said, I did it my way…”

pigeonmomParticipantGalileo by The Indigo Girls
Galileo’s head was on the block
His crime was looking up the truth
And as the bombshells of my daily fears explode
I try to trace them to my youth
And then you had to bring up reincarnation
Over a couple of beers the other night
So now I’m serving time for mistakes
Made by another in another lifetime
How long till my soul gets it right
Can any human being ever reach the highest light
I call on the resting soul of Galileo
King of night vision, king of insight

GenHillOneParticipantDon’t know if it’s my only theme song, but continuing with the Bon Jovi :) – singing along, loudly, to “Have a Nice Day” always makes me feel better…”When the world gets in my face, I say, *bump, bump* have a nice day!”
–
Sometimes it has to be “have a nice day, arsehole” but still makes me feel better!

JeffroMember“All the Money or the Simple Life Honey” by The Dandy Warhols. Independence through simplicity, I’m not always there though I strive to be. This song inspires me.
“Going Underground” by The Jam. Don’t let the tyranny of the masses get you down. This song comforts me.
I prefer “My Way” through the jaded lens of Sid Vicious.

IrukandjiParticipantBack in Judy’s Jungle by Brian Eno sums it up for me, though if I got to choose an entire soundtrack I think I’d choose The Insider.

JenVMembernot so much a “theme song” – but every time I feel like shite I crank up “Come on Eileen” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners and it makes me feel better.

waterworldParticipantAre we limited to one theme song? I guess I’d have to go with U2 “City of Blinding Lights”:
The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now

JiggersMemberHere’s mines….
I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.
Now, every morning, just before breakfast,
I don’t want no coffee or tea.
Just me and my good buddy Weiser.
That’s all I ever need.
Cause I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
I drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.
Now, the other night I lay sleeping,
And I woke from a terrible dream.
So I called up my pal, Jack Daniels,
And his partner Jimmy Beam.
And we drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.
Well, the other night I got invited to a party,
But I stayed home instead.
Just me and my pal Johnny Walker,
And his brothers Black and Red.
And we drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drank alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.
Well, my whole family done give up on me,
And it makes me feel so bad.
The only one who’ll hang out with me
Is my dear old Granddad.
And we drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
We drink alone, yeah, with nobody else.
Yeah, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself

TomwhiskeyMemberJanis Joplin – “Oh Lord won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz”
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?

bsmommaParticipant“3 Little Birds” Bob Marley I just LOVE that song, always in my head and sang it to my baby. :) Worrying isn’t going to change anything.

WSBKeymasterI adore the fact that you can find almost anything on YouTube, as evidenced here. Even if it’s just courtesy of some kind soul who put an old 45 on a turntable and shot video/audio of it playing.
My old theme, before I heard the Bon Jovi song on an airplane in 2000 during an almost-as-exciting time in my life (flying back and forth to Sunnyvale same-day for meetings while working for Disney Internet Group), was Steve Winwood’s “While You See a Chance,” also quite inspirational:

angelescrestParticipantLowman Beach, I couldn’t agree more. What a beautiful song. Our second-place (definitely inter-generational)song is Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy”–Stevie Winwood again and so moving, though it makes no sense. Sometimes life’s like that.
