This evening, as I walked south along Fauntleroy by Lincoln Park, I pulled my headphones out of my ears, as I usually do, to say good evening to a man leaving the park. I’ve always figured that it’s simply good manners to greet people when you pass ’em. Anyway, the elderly gentleman looked as if he’d been umpiring a game in the park and was headed home.

When I said hello, he said, “Looks like you’re getting your exercise this evening!” Then he took my right hand in both of his and kissed it, wished me a good evening and proceeded on his way. His entire demeanor radiated joy in the beautiful spring evening. His kindness reflected that.

Well, sir, I don’t know who you are and no doubt you’re in bed by know, but thank you! You brightened my spirit and my day.
