biankatParticipantWe’re heading to South Africa on Sunday. I ordered a Type M plug adapter via Amazon, but it did not arrive to my office in time. Is there a retailer here that sells travel adapters? I don’t need a voltage converter. Just the plug adapter. Appreciate your responses!

hammyMemberTry the AAA office at Jefferson Square. They used to have a little travel shop with some books, adapters, money belts.

KevinParticipantTry this search on Google:
type m plug adapter seattle
Try placing a wanted ad on craigslist?
Batteries Plus perhaps?
Worst case scenario, see if you can purchase one in SA

biankatParticipantThanks for the responses so far. Unfortunately South Africa has a very odd plug type, so not as easy to find as European versions. I had a light bulb go off in my head that Fry’s might have something. It seeeeems like they do at the Renton store. I’ve yet to hear confirmation. Fingers crossed!

FranciParticipantTry Bergman luggage store. Its downtown, not far from Macy’s. They have a good selection.

datamuseParticipantAlso try REI. They carry adapters.

elikapekaParticipantTry Radio Shack. I bought a whole set there years ago.

mpentoParticipantYes I think REI is a good bet. If you are stuck there is usually something in the electronics in duty free or the skymall catalog on the plane.

librarianMemberAre you sure it is a M? I have an E that I used in South Africa. If you strike out, you can borrow my E. email jlybecker at quidnunc dot net

justduckyParticipantMetsker Maps by Pike Place on 1st carries several different types of adapters as well.

biankatParticipantHey everyone! I found them at Fry’s. There’s actually two types that work in SA. I got both just in case. They are “ever so” slightly different from one another. As an FYI, they have a whole section dedicated to travel adapters and converters. Give them a try if you’re ever looking for something special. Bye!

ellenaterMemberSaw them at the airport once too. Have fun in South Africa. So jealous!
