wildmaxdMemberIs there an official Polar Bear Swim at Alki on New Years Day 2009/ If so where can I find information? Where? When? How awesome will it be?

flowerpetalMemberSeems the only organized PB Plunge is at Matthews Beach this year. The plans can be read at the Seattle Parks Web page. The PBs also have a blogspot and there they only talk about the get together at Matthew’s Beach.
I shudder to think.

swimcatMemberThe colder the air temp the warmer the water feels! If I weren’t sick I’d think about doing this myself. I’ve only done the polar bear swim with a small group of friends- in Medina or at a small lake outside of Roslyn in the snow (brrr!).

WSBKeymasterFT, note the date on that story. It’s from a year ago. We received the official media advisory on last year’s swim and have not received one this year, nor have repeated searches yielded one. So our conclusion is that it’s not happening. Still time to be advised otherwise, of course!
(here’s our post with pix from the 1/1/08 one – and thanks for the reminder, there’s something else we need to check on:

WSBKeymasterPatrick is just back – he went there anyway just to see if anyone showed up, and says a few people did, though instead of starting at 10, they started at quarter till. We’ll post a little video in a bit.
