randeegoodMemberI am a 30 year old first time mom to-be, back in the Seattle area after 6 years and brand new to West Seattle. Are there other Mom to-bes out there that would love to get together over a cup of decaf coffee from time to time?
March 6, 2012 at 6:56 pm #749993
velo_nutParticipantPEPS!!!!!!! Do it! Best thing my wife and I ever did for our newborn.
March 6, 2012 at 7:50 pm #749994
JanSParticipantvelo…correct me if I’m wrong..isn’t PEPS for AFTER you have the baby? I think the OP is looking for companionship before she gives birth…
March 6, 2012 at 8:02 pm #749995
velo_nutParticipantAs usual, the blog police have pulled me over.
Ignore my post, don’t worry about emailing Peps until your child is 3 months old.

DianeParticipantWelcome back to West Seattle randeegood, and this is a great place to reach out to meet other expectant moms
~
Thanks for PEPS link velo_nut
~
PEPS is super popular, and growing all the time; they’re always looking for facilitators to start new groups, because of their popularity; good idea to contact asap to find out when you can get on the wait list for a group
~
PEPS is actually having their annual fundraising luncheon at Seattle Center right now, so all of their staff are probably there
~
also, if you have any desire to get into a daycare when your child is an infant, believe it or not, check out places now, while you are expecting, and pick a few to get on wait lists; if you wait til your baby is here, it will be too late for most child care centers

JanSParticipantaw, geez, velo..I wasn’t being snarky..I was asking..how about just a nice honest answer so the OP can have the right information. PEPS is a great organization. It wasn’t around when I had my daughter in 1980 that I know of. Glad it’s around now, as support is very much needed from fellow parents.
March 7, 2012 at 12:31 am #749998
addParticipantI was at the PEPS luncheon today, and in fact even made the “appeal” on stage with my 2 best PEPS friends and our 3 fourteen-year-old kids! Yes, PEPS is fantastic for new parents. But don’t wait until your baby is three months old to contact them – go to the website now and register by entering your due date. Use this URL: http://www.peps.org. The one shared above was created to consolidate local info for WS PEPSters and isn’t the official site for the organization.
.
PEPS offers orientation sessions that you can attend prior to giving birth – there is one at Bright Horizons in West Seattle. Info about it can be linked from the front page of PEPS’ site. It lists the schedule as:
4th Tuesday of each month at the West Seattle Bright Horizons, 4530 38th Avenue SW, Seattle, WA 98126. 1:30 – 3:00 PM. (Feb 28, Mar 27, Apr 24)
Good luck with your new little one and welcome to West Seattle!!

DianeParticipantthanks add

also on facebook, where they usually announce orientations

desertdwellerParticipantHey Randeegood —
I’d totally be interested in grabbing some coffee. I’m also ‘in the family way’ and would love to commiserate!

DMHParticipantHi,
Would love to meet up with some other people due this summer, we are expecting our first little one in late June and are in the 29-30ish age group. :)

March 7, 2012 at 4:30 pm #750003
randeegoodMemberFirst, thank you to all who replied. Jan S is correct, I am looking for friendship during pregnancy, but any tips for after the baby is born are appreciated.
DMH, Heather and DesertDweller:
How does Monday afternoon sound? 4:30 at Cupcake Royal on California.
If you are anything like me, you have a wonderful, well meaning, naggey partner and sneaking a delicious cupcake in, without someone clucking at you, sounds like a great way to wrap up a Monday.

clarasmomdotcomMemberHi moms-to-be,
Here’s a new group for West Seattle Moms to get recommendations for childcare, parenting support, arrange playdates, etc.
Come join us!

desertdwellerParticipantDarn it – I’m flying back from Minneapolis on Monday afternoon. :-( Keep me in the loop though — I’d love to join you another time.

desertdwellerParticipantOh, and I’m at bit of butter at gmail dot com. Early 30s and expecting our first in August.

sarah111MemberHi there! I actually got on here to post and see if any WS moms-to-be were interested in starting a walking group, and I just came across this post. I’d love to join you all on Monday, if that’s cool. I’m 34, and expecting our first in August.
My email is sarah(dot)dean(at)gmail(dot)com.

hbrown99ParticipantSarah
More the merrier! We are meeting at cupcake royal at 4:30!! I would definitely be up for walking or jogging if anyone is in to that. I’ve been a long time runner and still jog or go to the gym as much as I can.
Lots of summer babies!!!

JustSarahParticipantI’m 28 and due in September. I’d love to meet you all, as well, but I don’t know that I can get from work downtown back to WS by 4:30 tomorrow. I generally leave work around that time… maybe I’ll swing by and see if I find anyone? It’d probably be more like 5:00, depending on traffic.
March 12, 2012 at 5:11 am #750012
sarah111MemberGreat – I look forward to meeting you all tomorrow :)

nighthawkParticipantAlso check out meetup.com There is a group on there West Seattle Parents of Babes. http://www.meetup.com/moms-1926/. While I think most parents stumble upon it after their kiddos are born you should post on the forum there and see what you find. I am sure there are some who join up before their kiddos arrive.
