Do you have one hour a week to make a difference in a child’s life? Volunteer as a literacy tutor with Reading Partners! No previous experience is necessary, as our tutors are provided with a structured, easy-to-follow curriculum and ongoing training and support, not to mention loads of appreciation!

Did you know that in 2013, the National Assessment of Educational Progress, found that 34% of our nation’s fourth-graders were PROFICIENT in reading!? We find this statistic appalling, and since 1999 we have been doing our part to provide struggling students with the critical reading skills they need in order to reach their full potential.

Who we are: Reading Partners is a national nonprofit organization that provides volunteer-led, one-on-one literacy tutoring to more than 5,500 elementary school students in hundreds of schools in low-income communities across 8 states and the District of Columbia. We just expanded to the Seattle region and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work with our students at Sanislo Elementary in West Seattle! We run Monday through Thursday, between 9:25 AM – 2:55 PM.

Did you know that in the 2012-2013 school year, Reading Partners helped our kids to nearly DOUBLE their rate of learning!? Yep, we did- and we’d love you to be a part of our success this year!

    We accept volunteers 14-114!

No experience is necessary, but we ask that our volunteers can commit one hour per week for a semester period.

For more information, please visit http://www.readingpartners.org; or contact Alexis, our Volunteer Coordinator at (206) 992-4484 / alexis.acciani@readingpartners.org.
