LGBT WS Meet Up Double Check…

Just confirming meet up today for LGBT WS Community at C&P Coffee at 3pm. With such a gorgeous day, we wanted to make sure people weren’t planning on just ditching out to someplace more sunny and outdoors. Last time we tried to plan a get together of folks on a sunny day, everyone emailed and canceled at the last minute (understandably) because they wanted to get out in the sun rather than sit inside someplace.

Just let us know for sure if you’ll be there and we’ll plan on it as well. We’re getting our gardening and market shopping finished early while it’s still cooler out.

Well, most folks have either contacted us via email or the few postings here… yeah… we kinda forgot it was fathers day too… opps…

Okay… how about this… we’ll put something else together for a larger group in the future through a meet up website we use for our Shiba Inu group meet ups (wait… I’m starting to see a trend… LOL). We’ll head over there to C&P today to see if anyone still shows but we’ll plan something NOT on a holiday next time.

Sound good?? If you were planning on showing, show, if not, keep in touch either through our direct email or look for us on meetup.com under West Seattle LGBT (we’ll set that up this week) and we’ll do a future potluck or maybe something in the evening.

I was not able to make it, but I sure hope to attend the next gathering. I met a couple of people at the BBP gathering on Saturday and it would be great to see them again at this groups get-together! Shibaguyz-thanks for getting this going!

It seems a couple more people showed up yesterday and didn’t find us… it was such a nice day we were all sitting out back on the patio at the big round table back there. Dang it… sorry we missed each other. Again, we’ll get the whole thing up and running again.

How do we access the page at the meetup.com? When I click on the link it just sends me to their start-up page.

Hey there angelr… we are looking into setting something up on meetup.com for everyone as a contact point so this would be spread out to the entire WS LGBT community rather than just those who read this forum.

However, there is a little hang up with that and we’re thinking that it would be a just one more thing that we would be managing if we set it up exclusively under our own name on there. It appears that when you set up a group on meetup.com you are actually purchasing the rights to that group and are the sole administrator of it. We were looking for something a little more laid back and less high maintenance.

That said, we’ll probably just post future gatherings here on the WSB. After all, we do love this blog and everything it has done for the community here of WS. I know that personally it has impacted our lives in a very positive way and we don’t particularly want to leave it.

Yes, things got hairy here for a while but that happens on forums and then people put on their big girl/boy panties and they move on. So… look here for future events.

That said… we don’t have to be the only ones organizing the gatherings. There was a good sized group there for this first gathering and it has been our experience that these things only get bigger. What do you all want to do?? Cook out? Bowling was suggested. C&P again? Their back patio was GREAT! You all suggest dates and places and we’ll do our best to pull it all together… how’s that sound??

Thank you all for your enthusiasm. And, like we talked about on Sunday, bring your other LGBT folk with you! We’re going to haul along a few of our LGBT friends and neighbors to the next event… the more the merrier!!

a suggestion…

i know we hate to do the organizational things.. but there were people who missed the West Seattle Blog Forum group at BPP because there were no signs…

i recommend signs and nametags.. yeah nametags:(

i know they are so… well, you know.. but we all have two names.. our own and our sign in tags… and it can get pretty confusing..

All a sign has to say is WSB Forum Community Members … it doesn’t have to include topic unless you want to attract those who didn’t hear about it on the forum…

We have permission from TR to use “WSB Forum Community Members” for our fundraisers and gatherings…

just a suggestion to make these things more successful…

Let’s try to meet again. My partner and I are going on vacation to PV on the 10th thru the 17th.

We will be available to meet after that.I suggest we try the C&P again.Maybe the 19th??

Getting together again sounds great! The 19th is pretty booked for us too; would the following weekend (26th or 27th) work for the rest of you? Saturdays work better than Sundays for us because of work issues. –D&K

Saturday of either weekend would be preferable for us, too. Sunday night coffee doesn’t work well for Monday am. :)

Zenguy and Bayou, I have to tell you, Home Depot is great, but McClendon’s is better yet…I swear I could spend hours there. Incredible! (Of course, Home Depot has a better name.)

Oh boo, I just realized we are out of town the weekend of 19th and 26th…so I guess we’ll have to catch everyone later.

I heart McLendons…they rock! (they actually know something about what they are selling and are super helpful…imagine!!) Old school hardware stores!

Now that I have a real yard, the folks at McLendon’s have gotten to know me very well. I made three trips there last weekend alone. (Yes, I spent pride gardening.)

I do go there more often than homo depot but the joke was just too easy to roll with. ;)
