seaopgalParticipantYou’re not the troll, charlabob … Perhaps I’m wrong, but I think Irukandji is referring to the fact that Alki Warrior has started a couple of threads now with what appear to be innocent questions or comments and then revealed his/her true feelings later on.

LisaMParticipantI am glad this came up on the forum as I have seen her in the Admiral area for about a year now. If it’s the same woman, she has a grocery shopping cart that is very neatly packed and she always seems clean and dressed pretty well. I always say hi to her and sometimes she pets my dog. But mostly, she tries to “hide” in a doorway or green area.
I wonder and worry about her too. She never asks for anything and tries to be invisible.
I will be eager to hear if there is anything we can do for her!

Barry2012ParticipantThis took an unexpected turn, I wholeheartedly want to know her story and what any of us can do to help. She’s a human and she’s our neighbor here, whether she has a home or not. Since this is our neighborhood forum I’m hoping we can help her. I’ll try to stop next time I see her and ask what any of her neighbors can do.

seaopgalParticipantAccording to my partner, who is out and about in the Junction more than I am, there are actually two different women: The lady at the Alaska Junction Key Bank and the lady with the grocery cart more often seen in Admiral. Both deserve our respect and compassion.

Alki WarriorParticipantAm I a bad person now for bringing up this lady who has been sitting in the Junction day after day for over a year now despite what the weather is like?
Apparently she probably isn’t capable of helping herself as you can clearly see or are you going to now jump on me for saying that? DESC deals with those who have mental issues and I’m assuming she has mental issues and needs help. If she is part of the community like one of you said then why don’t you take her and help her find those resources?
I’m surprised that Key Bank hasn’t done a thing since she leans on their building everyday holding her hat out in hopes you give her a few bucks. I must be a baaaad person for bringing up the obvious. She is human and your neighbor like Barry said in post #16.
I’ll stop by and give her a few oranges like Jeannie mentioned. No problem. Smoking is bad for you anyways so, I’m not going to buy her a pack of cigarettes. I’m guessing she has a place to sleep because I do not see a backpack or other daily essential items that a homeless person would need on them everyday. I wonder where she heads off too after it gets dark or late? Does anyone pick her and drop her off everyday? And if so, how come she’s being treated that way?
You see, I observe and call it the way I see it, but I get jumped on here so quickly because it sounds like a subject no one wants to bring up. With me bringing it up maybe someone does have the ability to give her a warm bed and a roof over her head. I surely am not capable of doing that. But I noticed y’all would rather disect my previous posts here instead for your own enjoyment.
Jan..did I say she was trash or graffiti or are you just trying to put words into my mouth? But it’s alright with me if you all say it’s okay and let her do her thingy there. No biggie. I’m going to stop by and give her an orange during happy hour this week. Oranges for everyone…:)
I hope she doesn’t die of weather exposure.

but calling her an eyesore may have been what earned you all those sour grapes..
she is really low on the eyesore scale..
and.. I don’t know how to tell you this but it is possible that she is already being assisted by DESC
and is still spending her days on that corner..
and is homeless
or spending her nights in a local shelter
or couch surfing
or…
none of us will know until someone speaks with her..
and even then not until she agrees that it’s ok to tell even part of her story..

JanSParticipantAlki…my point was…trash and graffiti are eyesores. This woman is not. She’s a human being, and has every right to stand there for hours just as you or I do. When you said that it seemed very “looking down your nose at someone” My apologies if I took it the wrong way – sometimes the typed word doesn’t quite come across as intended.
She may not be willing to tell her complete story, but I’m sure she’d appreciate the kind gesture of a hello, giving her oranges (or any other food). So thank you for that.
