PonderosaParticipantI was in Starbucks at the junction of Alaska/California when a male driver, headed southbound on California, drove aggressively and fast through the red light (during a walk all ways), nearly missing at least one pedestrian. He continued through the intersection southbound on California and by the time I got outside, he was gone. I called 911 to report him, will full description of car and driver, though I didn’t see license plate. Just thought I would post it here in case he caused any damage or injured anyone, or if anyone saw his license plate, encouraging them to call it in. It was scary to watch, I cannot believe how those of you in the intersection, especially the guy who had to jump out of the way, must have felt. I hope he’s caught before he causes any harm.

22bladesParticipantMy partner I were on California, just north of Easy Street. We heard what I thought at first was a stuck gas pedal coming down California only to see this dark silver metallic Honda Fit come screaming by on the wrong side of the street. He slowed briefly approaching the scramble at Alaska but then gassed it through again at full throttle. It happed so fast, everybody was a bit stunned. The light at the scramble was red for cars & the only thing I could think about was pedestrians in the intersection. Nobody got hit but it could have been a horrific scene. We called 911 but apparently they had received numerous calls by this time. We just looked around to see everyone looking at each other trying to digest what we saw. My guess is either a stolen 2nd generation Honda Fit with dark metallic silver paint or “just” someone on crack (White Male w/ darker hair, mid-thirties). Terrifying…
P.S. There was a SPD cruiser parked on the SW corner. An officer came sauntering out 20 minutes later, just looking around, taking in the sunshine after a nice cup of coffee or something…

PonderosaParticipantAbsolutely nuts! Good to know that others called in as well. That cruiser was right across the street from me, but no officer around at the time unfortunately. I caught a glimpse of the drivers face right after he made it through the intersection and he looked angry yet glazed over–the look of someone on drugs or blinded by emotion, or something.
