Seriously?ParticipantControl your dogs! I was attacked by a “nice dog” yesterday. The nice dog bit through my pants and a knee brace leaving me with deep puncture wounds and a huge bruise. There was no warning that this nice dog was going to bite despite the owner telling me (afterwards) that the nice dog has a history of bitting people near doorways. I was leaving my building and moved aside to let the owner and the dog in. That’s when I got bit. Holding the door to let this neighbor and his dogs in. Again, no warning that this dog is scared of doorways and will bite people in doorways. I would have happily backed away had I known.

WS ResParticipantI hope you got the owner’s information and proof of vaccination against rabies.

RatsParticipantIt happened to me in 2010. Dozens of other reports here over the years. Definitely a civility challenge area with no or very little enforcement.

side-walkerParticipantOnce a dog bites someone and causes injury, they should go to a farm upstate IMO; regardless of how nice their owner insists they are.
The world, and Seattle in particular, has become far too passive when it comes to pushing back on dog owners for breaking the laws. Every day I see dogs on a beach, in a park that explicitly says ‘no dogs’, or on a seat in a bus.
Unpopular or not, please remember that dogs are, in fact, NOT PEOPLE.

RatsParticipantHappened to me in 2010. I have been reading “the blog” since they started. Plenty of other incidents shared by victims or reported by the editor over the years. I have reported all issues I personally experience and read about, to Animal Control. Nothing changes /people keep getting away with it. West Seattle’s dirty little secret. When will it end? So called nice area with great sense of community 🤣

giglsmithParticipantI went through something similar but the nice dog attacked my dog. If you know exactly where the person with the dog lives you can call Animal control and file a report. They will follow up and visit owner, that person will be liable for not controlling their dog and can be fined, they will also be fined if their dog does not have up to date rabies shots and is also not licensed within the city. Also making an official record means you can have them reimburse you for any doctor visits or bills pertaining to the issue. It sounds like you might be in an apartment from your description, so your landlord should be able to provide the right information to the police. File a report!
