    oooh that would be fun!

I think there is a place out in Carnation. Let me see what I can find in my bookmarks. Seems to me I had a bunch.

Or ask if anyone has an apple tree that needs picking. I see ripe apples dropping onto the ground in my neighborhood!

Chow Hound has a reference to one in Sedro-Wooley, which is a trek but sounds like it’s worth it. They have heirloom apples of all varieties, apparently. The last comment on this page gives them a glowing review!

i’ve passed a few apple trees in west seattle and my first thought is to grab one but i never do. i love going apple picking though and just roaming a huge orchard and trying all the different varieties and drinking fresh hot cider. my favorite thing about fall.

Kind of off topic, but: there are a couple of apple trees near Riverview Playfield. :)

Between my neighbor’s house and mine there are two apple trees, but unfortunately none of the apples are edible due to worm holes in every single apple. Anyone have any thoughts on how to avoid this next year? Last year one of the trees had the most delicious apples…not so much this year.

My mother used to have a tree service come out and spray 4 times a year. Probably not the solution people are looking for these days.

Before tree service days, the worm hole apples were used for apple sauce. You cut the good bits off, throw away the bad bits. You can also cut around the wormy, bruised and scabbed bits and get enough slices for apple pies. Avoid picking up apples that have hit the ground. There are so many raccoons and possums and rats and birds and squirrels crawling over the ground apples, and broken skin makes them impossible to wash clean.

Red Delicious apples do NOT make good applesauce. They were bred for their good looks as an eating apple.

Our tree is loaded this year. The apples are in great condition with good taste and texture. We have more than we can use if you want to pick some.

I too have a tree full of apples and was in contact with someone here on the forums but lost contact with them. So, if someone is interested, it was a good year!

If there are still some left I’d love to have some apples. My email is YourEcoSafeHome at Yahoo dot com

I’ve been driving down Barton seeing them rolling down the street and wondering where they were coming from wishing I could keep them from going to waste.

Our neighbors tree has a bunch of apples and they fall off the tree and roll down the alley, probably into Barton. I’ve seen them roll down the street that far!

I am big fan of picking fresh apples. I WOULD LOVE to have some. Marianne and flowerpetal and anyone who is offering apples, please let me know if there are still apples available. My email address is “aweshum@yahoo.com”. Fresh apples are great for fresh apples juice out of the juicer. Yum yum!

Great to see you guys making connections. If anyone winds up with unwanted apples … or knows of a neighbor whose tree fruit seems to be going to waste … we’ve added this reminder to a few similar threads, but don’t forget Community Harvest of West Seattle, which uses volunteer help to harvest fruit (and other produce) from local trees and gardens, and distributes it to those who help fight hunger in our community. You can check out Community Harvest at:

Thanks for the reminder TR:) We at Community Harvest (CHOSS) picked a lot of fruit this year, but the need this year was HUGE. I know there are still excess apples out there – please contact us if you want to donate them. Thanks!

We want to say thank you to B&G. We got a plethora of apples this morning and you couldn’t even tell we’d made a dent in the tree.

However our home smells fabulous as I have a big batch of apples simmering on the stove with ginger, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, & cloves; and another batch of plain going in the crock pot.

I still have 3 bags of apples to process. Guess I know what I’ll be doing this week…Gotta love fall…

    THANKS FOR THE APPLES!!!
