KeithMemberEven better (IMO) than plain ol’ pepper is Lawry’s Seasoned Pepper on cottage cheese. MMMMMMM! A little Seasoned Salt won’t hurt, either.

angelescrestParticipantRicotta is sublime, especially mixed with a bit of honey, raw almonds…it is so rich.
Ever tried cottage cheese + honey heated on toast?
April 3, 2009 at 3:50 am #663210
JeraldParticipantCottage cheese with a blop of strawberry preserves on top…mmm. Preferably large curd (to get that cheese curd squeak sensation) with homemade freezer jam.
Richard Nixon like cottage cheese with ketchup on it. Can’t do it.

PDHParticipantCottage cheese with VINE RIPENED SUMMER tomatoes, little salt and pepper, and all swirled together. Sometimes add a few bits of avacado… Could eat it for b’fast, lunch, and dinner daily during summer time!!!! Yum!!!

AdamOnAlkiParticipantSo, it appears that the majority of West Seattle Blog commentators are in agreement that cottage cheese very well be the purest and most delectible nectar of the gods.
With this new found knowledge, (as well as everyones interesting and titilatingly delicious variations on how to best prepare it) I think that a Cottage Cheese potluck be organized.
We can hold blind taste tests to see if your C.C.-brand IQ is really up to snuff.
Everyone can bring their favorite toppings and concoctions and flavors.
It’ll be wonderful!
If you can dare convince your tastebuds to wait until June, even I will be able to attend (and Sue, I’ll bring you a container or two of Friendship brand!)!
If this was to be organized, who would be in?

AnonymousInactivemake a beer club cottage cheese is no fun
April 3, 2009 at 5:27 am #663217
AnonymousInactiveIt could be a combo.
What beer or wine accompanies cottage cheese?
You’re a REAL cottage cheese superstar if you know that!
April 3, 2009 at 5:39 am #663218
AdamOnAlkiParticipantOh snap! I know the answer:
ALL OF THEM!
Cottage cheese is palatable with any and all beverage items. Just another reason it is so beautiful!

KevinParticipantCottage cheese by itself sounds great. Forget the lettuce, the fruit – just plain old full strength cottage cheese for me. Pepper on top is nice too. The only improvement I could see might be a liberal amount of real bacon bits sprinkled on top.
.
Thank you SarahScoot for the advice about the large size available at Costco.

biankatParticipantMy fur babies get cottage cheese in every meal. Brings a bit more protein to them, and makes mealtime more interesting. Personally I don’t care for any cottage cheese makers available up here. My favorite is Knudsen’s, which is widely available in CA, but up here it’s only available in little snack packs. Not economical at all :(

EmmyJaneParticipantI wonder if the West Seattle grocery stores had a surge in cottage cheese sales yesterday…
April 3, 2009 at 5:38 pm #663222
andreaParticipantI totally dig that there are 40 replies in a post all about the love of cottage cheese! So cool. And I’ll go to a cottage cheese potluck. I’ll bring the wheat toast and tomato slices. Count me in for June.

NewGuyMemberThought I’d try something new, so I put cottage cheese in my tacos once. Not so great, and it kind of ran together with the tomatos, making somewhat of a pink taco.
April 3, 2009 at 6:08 pm #663224
AnonymousInactiveI’m actually surprised that it took 41 posts before it came to that.
Very interesting, NewGuy. :)

AdamonAlki … cottage cheese in june sounds like the basis of an intereting WSB get-together.. combined with a BBQ and games… this could be interesting:)

carrieannMemberCottage cheese mixed with dill weed, cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices to dip. Yum.
April 4, 2009 at 6:53 am #663228
AnonymousInactiveFavorite recipe is plain cottage cheese with fruit baked @ 350 degrees in a pie tin, then slathered on a piece of garlic cheese bread. Worst heartburn ever, but it tastes so good.

JoBParticipantbiankat…

I was raised with cottage cheese by my Irish grandmother…cottage cheese w/ pineapple…w/peaches…..w/ tomatoes….it was our “salad”…always with bread and potatoes!! LOL
She lived to be 87 and my Mother to 95 ….Gramma always said that Potatoes were the staff of life..hmmmmmm this generation and the following in our family went to sweet potatoes, but still cottage cheese…..must be something to it!!
April 8, 2009 at 9:40 pm #663231
CallMeAlMemberomigosh! here’s another. I tried cottage cheese on my baked potato today with mess ‘o cracked black pepper. Delish.
April 8, 2009 at 9:43 pm #663232
charlabobParticipantOK, I love it too — as long as it isn’t suspended in green jello. Or is that just a midwestern church supper delicacy? How about cottage cheese and beets? And definitely sign me up for the potluck. In honor of the bob’s legenday chicken curry, I’ll make curried cottage cheese.
