MargeCParticipantOur Comcast email has been down half-way (no incoming messages, but outgoing are fine) since at least 10am today.
According to the website “Is it down right now?” aka http://www.iidrn.com – it still is.
“Mail.comcast.net is DOWN for everyone.
It is not just you. The server is not responding…”
Never had this problem before – weird. Anyone else having trouble?

miwsParticipantI don’t use my Comcast e-mail acct, so it just collects the Comcast promos, etc.
I just checked it, and had only three e-m’s in my Inbox; one that landed there within the minute previous, one from yesterday, and one from the 9th.
That being said, Is it down right now? lies, so don’t let it mess with your self-esteem. ;-)
Within the last month, but probably at least two weeks ago, I’ve experienced at least two occasions of significant outage on my Outlook (formerly Hotmail) acct.
On each occasion, when I checked IIRDN, it claimed it was just me, but when I read comments there, or perhaps on one other site that provides the same info, other commenters said the site was wrong.

wakefloodParticipantMy Comcast email has been hosed up all week. Up and down, acting weird. It’s not just you. I wish they would just credit users for down time (they know who and how much, of course) but they force you to call and tell them before they’ll put the credit on your account.

MargeCParticipantmiws (Mike) & wakeflood ~
Thanks for your helpful responses – have contacted Comcast and received a response & trouble# late last night (on Xfinity website mail), so they’re working on it… hopefully. Will update you if/when/how it gets fixed.

MargeCParticipantUpdate – As strangely as it started yesterday morning, suddenly my Comcast incoming email has come back (I think) – about 30 min ago.
Don’t know how/why – never got any further response from the Comcast fixit squad, just happy it’s back… for now.
It was an awful experience, but learned a lot about my other options (Xfinity website mail, Gmail, Yahoo).

trickycooljParticipantIf you decide to go with a web based email service in the future do look into forwarding your Comcast mail to the new one. You won’t have to send the new address to anyone you don’t want having it (a nice way to ditch spam) and sometimes even if the front end isn’t working the back end server at Comcast is working and would forward your mail anyway. You can also choose to reply using your new address or the Comcast one.
I’ve done the same with my old UW email, it forwards to my lesser used hotmail since both are mostly spam these days. UW alumni association sold our emails for money my senior year (jerks). I also have a more professional sounding hotmail that I link to my Personal gmail. It’s nice to only log into one place!
