Children’s guide to splattered bugs

I was pumping gas into my car at the 76 station on California last week and I noticed a clever sign by the pumps. I grabbed an iPhone image of it and thought I’d post it here for yuks:

Heh, back when the daughter of some friends of mine was maybe 4 or 5 or so, her mom found something similar, but with unsplatted bugs, and with their Latin scientific names.

Mom cut and pasted the girl’s picture over one of the bugs, then wrote in, in fake Latin, a “scientific” name. IIRC, it involved using her name in some manner as the first word, and then something along the lines of “irritatus”, for the second.

Mom then made photocopies to hand out to friends and family. :-P

76 has an amusing advertising campaign going on right now, both at the stations and on billboards. I love the bug poster, and the one with exercises to do while at the pump.
