TishParticipantHi,
I’m thinking of building a carport with a deck on top. Does anyone have any good recommendations of people or companies I can contact for a bid? Thanks!

VentanaConstructionParticipantTish, a project of this kind requires a permit from the city of Seattle.
A good place to start is with a local architect–there’s one who advertises on the blog–to investigate whether it’s possible to do this project on your property, given the size of your lot and configuration of existing buildings.
Without plans, a contractor can give you a ballpark price, which is useful when you are starting out to determine the budget for your project.
If you’d like more information about the building process, we offer a monthly workshop in our offices. The next one will be Thursday, January 14th at 6pm. Please RSVP if you would like to attend.

bailecyclistParticipantTry Jimmy Fuda, Yankee Construction, 206-310-4986. He built our deck. Great job. Worked quickly with very short wait time to get job started. He’s in Admiral area.

bsmommaParticipantHi! My husband is Jimmy Fuda of Yankee Construction! Thanks for the reccomendation bailecyclist! You can check out his website at http://www.yankeeconstruct.com He’s done this type of job before. He does work with another contractor that is very experienced in the permits area. As well as has other recources of specialties as needed. He does great work (not just saying that because he’s my husband), very honest and fair. He has done a lot of work for local residents/WS Bloggers and can provide a list of referrals. Good Luck!
