wsgolferMemberI’ll start. I think the Sweet Potato and Dungeness Crab Cakes at Fresh Bistro are awesome (And for $5 during happy hour, a good deal to boot!).

CarsonParticipantStealing from the “why get married” thread. My wife makes the best crab cakes, beats Tom Douglass anyday…super duper yummy. But Circa will do in a pinch!

HunterGParticipantMy house!

flowerpetalMemberThrow down Hunter! I think mine are best!

mrhinehMemberTry the crab gnocchi at Angelina’s. mmmm.

SueParticipantCrab cakes at Seattle Fish Company are the best. You have to fry them up yourself, but it’s worth it.
wsgolfer, I like the ones at Fresh Bistro, but lately they seem to be far more sweet potato than crab. While good, I find it hard to call them crab cakes.

HunterGParticipantPersonally Flowerpetal, IMHO crab cakes are kind of like meatloaf… so I can understand, yours are best and so are mine. =D

KeithMemberI agree with Sue – the crab cakes at Seattle Fish are the best you can buy. There’s no lacking of crab in their cakes, although they do seem a little smaller than they used to be.

KevinParticipantIf you are pinching pennies, then try the frozen crab cakes available at Winco down in Kent. They come vacuum sealed in a package of six. Can’t remember the price, but they were a very good value.
.
Stepping up a notch or two, the QFC crab cakes (made with Rock crab) run around $2.50 or so. Again, not bad for the money. I have had them for breakfast a few times. Not sure why, but they do seem to pair well with a good cup of coffee. Crab cakes and scrambled eggs – yumm!
.
Thriftway is at the top of my list at the moment. Large cakes made with real Dungeness crab! Typically selling for about $3.50 each.
.
I have yet to try the Seattle Fish crab cakes – thanks Keith.
.
Lastly, Safeway carries their own slightly spicy crab dip / sauce, which I find great on just about any fish entree. Normal price is around $4 for an 7oz tub, and frequently is on sale for $3.50.

wsgolferMemberThanks, everyone. I’ll have to try the ones at Circa, SFC and a couple of our local groceries.
Oh, and if there ever is a WS crab cake cookoff between Carson’s wife, HunterG and flowrpetal (hint hint), I unselfishly volunteer to be a judge ;)

CarsonParticipantwsgolfer,
It wouldn’t be a fair contest, my wife is a professional!! However, it might be a fun way to spend an evening.
September 7, 2010 at 5:09 pm #702868
flowerpetalMemberI know, and I imagine you know several at home cooks who can outcook a “professional.” Your wife may well make excellent crab cakes… and I’m a-guessing she does. That’s a better credential than being a professional.
September 7, 2010 at 5:13 pm #702869
CarsonParticipantActually, she “was” a professional chef. Trained and graduated from the top cooking school in the U.S.. But long hours, poor pay and way too much BS got her out of the biz. My waistline will attest to her prowess. Oh, and when she reads this, you know what I want for dinner this weekend honey bunny!!

KimberleyParticipantIf I ate seafood, I’d demand a crab cake-off, but alas I don’t. If anyone can make Yorkshire pudding though, I’m so there.
September 7, 2010 at 5:28 pm #702871
flowerpetalMemberOh my, Yorkshire pudding is a lovely (but for me, dangerous) treat. I am not the best maker of YP, and bow down to any who can. Crab cakes first course, Beef Roast with Yorkshire Pudding for the main course anyone?
September 7, 2010 at 6:36 pm #702872
squareeyesParticipantBohemian also has crab cakes. I believe they do not use any filler. I’m not crabcake fan so can’t comment on the flavor; boyfriend is a fan and always happy with it though.
