I’m not sure of the name but there is a place that was rated the #2 best Mexican in Seattle that is right behind Proletariat. It is on 15th.

    Hi,

Bonnie is referring to El Paisano which also owns the butcher shop next door. I eat there twice a week because of the wonderful food and the warmth of this family and their employees. Plus they have booths! I love cafe booths.

My current warm weather faves on-the-cheap are tostado

ceviche cammeron or carnitas, as well as their roasted

chicken, but explore the menu which includes breakfast and

goat – all meats which you can buy at the butcher shop.

Another fab place I like is Muy Macho on 14th Ave So. in

South Park. They are on the block immediately south of the

bridge construction. I park in their parking lot entered off

Cloverdale. For my money, they might have the best red

sauce in Seattle…it has that smokey edge that seems to be

missing in other local places. Very nice interior as well. I

think they serve up crickets(?) or some similar insect in a

traditional sauce here. Authentic enough? ;)

Everything is very good at both places. You can’t go wrong at

    either.

    Rositeria Paisano

the place with a funky chicken on the side of the building on 15th just off of Roxbury.. across from Bartells..

it is a little hole in the wall place in White Center

but their broasted chicken is very good

    and their mexican dishes authentic..

the little place on the corner of Roxbury and 17th

Taqueria Guyamas is also pretty good

and then there is Chemos next to McClendon’s

they are a little larger and specialize in mexican stews. the special of the day is worth trying and they big enough to be kid friendly without driving the adults in the room away.

i have to let you know that hubby’s idea of authentic mexican comes from his childhood in Tuscon..

but he is very happy with all of these choices.

this post was edited after hubby pointed out that he only liked the atmosphere and margaritas in one of the places i recommended and that i had a name really wrong…

We are in love with Taqueria La Fondita #2, the truck right around the corner from Full Tilt in White Center.

The mulitas are insanely delicious. The tacos are some of the best in Seattle and it’s supper cheap. So good. Go check them out. Then go to Full Tilt for dessert. I’ve heard their paletas are to die for.

Shout out to the taco truck Beloved Mexico. Their mole sauce is amazing. There is a new place in Georgetown called Fonda la Katrina that is very good, kinda an upscale taco truck as a restaurant

We just moved to Seattle in May and have been to Oaxaca in Ballard. I am Mexican and I do miss the cuisine I grew up with in California but I’ve been gone a long time, and several states ago with NO mexican food for me. So for the 1st time in years I found good food at Oaxaca! Not a hole-in-the-wall place either and a variety of salsa’s. Always packed with customers too!
