Explore tribal uses of native plants on a hike in the West Duwamish Greenbelt with Bri Castilleja of the Samish tribe on Saturday, July 2. Bri will identify plants with medicinal and nutritional value on a leisurely two-mile hike lasting 1.5 to 2 hours. Meet at 10 a.m. at Heron’s Nest, 4818 15th Ave. SW, accessible from W. Marginal Way, where parking is available. The hike will include stops at Heron’s Nest, the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center and Herring’s House Park (Tualtwx). This hike is sponsored by the West Duwamish Greenbelt Trails group and the Duwamish Tribe.
