Saturday September 7th
10 am – noon
Learn about the geology of the Duwamish Valley with environmental educator Devin O’Reilly! Explore how glaciers, volcanoes, earthquakes and humans have shaped the Duwamish River/Waterway. We’ll take a geologic journey from ice sheets to industry, from salmon habitat to Superfund site, as well as ponder the future of this region.
Meet at the 14th Avenue SW and SW Holly Street trailhead in West Seattle at 10 am. Please wear sturdy footwear as a portion of the three-mile hike may be on an unimproved and uneven trail which requires scrambling over some logs. Some might find hiking sticks helpful on this section but many hikers are fine without them.
