1:52 PM: Thanks for the tip. Avoid 35th north of Fauntleroy for a while – a crash is blocking, No serious injuries, so no SFD dispatch, but SPD is there.
2:52 PM: SDOT says the scene has cleared.

Live near here and I’m so tired of the California stops at Dakota/35th. Please come to full stops. Stop rolling out without checking oncoming traffic. So many near misses.
Seeing that a lot. Rolling through stop signs and blasting through uncontrolled intersections. Even seeing the running of red lights. Most of the time no one is in danger but the habit is just calling out for an accident. Also people are not adhering to the speed limit so that also begs for an accident. People are on their phones and driving. People are on their phones and walking across streets. Not a good mix by any means.
The all-way stop near us has been a “stop sign? what stop sign?” intersection, particularly for those coming downhill, for the 30+ years we’ve been here. Police have recently started staking it out again (part of the reason I keep saying, yes, they’re doing traffic enforcement), pulling over four or five offenders, and moving on. But it’s not just “fear of ticket” that should stop you. How about “fear of killing someone”? I’ve had to honk to stop a roll-through from T-boning me dozens of times over the years … TR
Tracy I walk my dog on that corner daily and have almost been hit a half dozen times by drivers blowing through the stop sign heading west and taking a right to go north. I always yell at them and point to the stop sign. They don’t care. One of these days they’re going to get a full bag of dog poo on their windshield. 😡
I have witnessed so many going through red lights, 2 today as I was walking , by qfcAnd the blinking light to stop at california and Dakota ,3 cars sped through it as I was trying to cross
People take stops/signals as a suggestion not the law. Scary.
There are way too many signals that are not operating properly. Arterial signal’s that turn red for no cross street traffic or pedestrians is a serious issue that needs to be fixed.
The main intersection at Morgan Junction exhibits strange behavior like this and typically it’s because a bus is altering the signal timing but I’ve seen it happen with no bus in sight.
The delay between pushing a beg button and the light changing is often so long that people cross without waiting for the crossing light. They are long gone when the light changes and interrupts a driver’s zoomies, who then complains, “the light changed for no reason.” Walking is slow. When infrastructure adds delay, people ignore it.
The four-way intersection at Beach Drive and Lincoln Park Way SW is notorious for drivers doing California stops, drivers blowing right through the Stop Sign while pedestrians are crossing! Also, drivers do not understand that when two, three, four cars arrive at the stop signs at the same time at this intersection, the drivers yield to the driver on their right…making eye contact with the other drivers is a must…watch for pedestrians at all times. When I cross this intersection, I always make eye contact with the stopped drivers to make sure they know I am crossing.
I have taken to carrying a mini marine horn with me in my hand ready to use – very effective!! Also I wear a hi-vis sash in the dark. I’m astounded by folks dressed in dark clothes crossing streets after dark / in the rain without looking. You may have the right-of-way but is it worth life and limb? And no, I don’t get the ignoring of stop signs and red lights. It’s pure stupidity.
Sorry, comment time is over.
