SATURDAY: Drug Take-Back Day, with Southwest Precinct dropoff

If you have expired or no-longer-needed medicine to get rid of, and aren’t sure where to do that with all the local drugstore changes, here’s an opportunity: This Saturday is the fall Drug Take-Back Day event. Again this time, the Southwest Precinct (2300 SW Webster) is one of two SPD precincts in the city participating. Take your items there 10 am-2 pm Saturday (October 25), no questions asked.

I urge anyone with elderly friends or parents out there who may have a cupboard filled with unused/old prescriptions, to please run this important errand for them or at least offer. There are people who can enter their home (sometimes through hiring some kind of service) and this is exactly what they are looking for.

For those who can’t make it to this event, Safeway on Roxbury has a drop off (into) box right next to the pharmacy counter.

Unfortunately their vendor rarely comes by to empty it, so 9 times out of 10 it’s full and locked. :( We gave up on them and just wait for one of these events.

Sadly, this event is only once a year. Best to keep checking Safeway.
