Man hit by driver near Westwood Village, taken to hospital

For those who asked about an emergency response at 26th/Barton around 9:30 pm, it was reported as a driver hitting a pedestrian. We don’t know details of the circumstances, but Seattle Fire says the pedestrian – a man in his mid-30s – was taken to the hospital by AMR ambulance, in stable condition.

There was a man picking up his motorcycle and walking it to the sidewalk. A car high center over the new center barriers which significantly destroyed her car. I couldn’t see an injured victim but there were people on sidewalk and fire was heading our way once we passed incident.

I did not hear any mention of a motorcycle; the plate that dispatchers checked, called in by officers as an involved vehicle, came back to a “purple Toyota Camry.”

The motorcyclist likely had to stop to help the pedestrian. I hope the injured person is ok.

the center barriers aren’t new; they’ve been there more than 5 years.

the center barrier has existed at least since 2016 as seen in a photo on the Move Seattle proposal that added the curb bulbs in the same area: https://www.seattle.gov/documents/Departments/SDOT/NSF/2016039.pdf

Drivers continue to ignore all the “pedestrian safety” measures installed at this location.  Do something sensible for a change; set up a sting and hand out a whole bunch of massive fines and maybe some jail time.  Asking nicely and depending on common sense from drivers is obviously not working.

anonyme, the pedestrian devices obviously not working, so why add more.

Because the answer is always threaten fines and jail time.. … Because hitting people doesn’t already come with that … Apparently.. .. sigh. I can’t stand the logic of some people. Threats are never the answer to prevention. There has to be convenience in order to prevent. And sometimes, stupid people just do stupid things. Anonyme has no idea what they are talking about, and spewed out a knee jerk reaction to a complex issue.
