Why do they always do these MASSIVE responses then downsize?

This has been discussed here many, many times.
      The short version:
Better safe than sorry. The extra minutes it would take for more responders if the first crew on scene says “yep, it’s a fire” could be a life-death difference. And when it’s something like this, most of the responders get code-greened before they ever even arrive anyway (see this log on sfdlive.com as a prime example).

I live on this block! (It wasn’t me…) I’m glad they sent the full squad seeing as it’s all tightly packed condos and apartments. A big fire here would be devastating.I think it’s a valid question to ask, but these guys know what they’re doing.

Lots of sirens, glad it’s nothing major and everyone’s ok. After that woke me a heard what sounded like gunshots in N Admiral. Second time there was another round maybe an hour earlier. Anyone else?

Heard that too and looked out the window and saw fireworks over the beach :/ Woke up again now to a couple more loud bangs and assuming it’s fireworks again but didn’t see any.

Sorry, comment time is over.
