Brown water southwest of The Junction

Lori wonders if this is happening to anyone else tonight: “Started noticing brown water at our house, near intersection of Erskine & 46th SW.” Nothing on Seattle Public Utilities‘ map so far; if you have water trouble, including discoloration, be sure to report to SPU at 206-386-1800.

There was a crew pressure testing the hydrant right outside my house this evening. They said it was related to some construction. (On a Sunday night??) I’m at 46th and Raymond.

Thanks. I agree a strange time for them to test, but maybe that was it. It does seem to have cleared up now. : )

It is highly unlikely that a pressure test on a hydrant near Raymond St could cause noticeable sediment at a house near Erskine St, over a half mile north.  If the crew had been testing multiple hydrants along 46th Ave, the WS Blog would almost certainly have had multiple notifications.  I just checked the SPU Water Outage map, and no outage is listed for the neighborhood.

It’s come to arbor heights today.  Yellow/brown water with bits of sediment.

Sorry, comment time is over.
