UPDATE: Here’s why Junction TrueValue was unexpectedly closed this morning

11:41 AM: Thanks for the tip. We went to Junction TrueValue after a texter said it was unexpectedly closed for “a medical emergency.” When we got there, we found a responder from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which handles death investigations. TrueValue staff told us that a customer came in this morning and collapsed; medics were called and tried to revive him but could not. That’s all we know so far; the store is expected to reopen at some point this afternoon.

11:55 AM: Just got word that the store has reopened.

2:40 PM: TrueValue clarifies that the person did not come into the store – he was found just outside before they opened, and they called 911; the emergency response kept them from opening until the ME responder subsequently completed their work. SFD tells us the man who died was 29 years old.

Terrible news. I hope his family and friends pull together during this tough time. Being a west Seattlite for over 30 years I am curious if we have any information on this person. West Seattle is a tight community.

He was a friend of mine’s son who grew up in West Seattle and loved to hang out in the Junction.  He got ahold of something laced with fentanyl, and it was not a drug overdose but it was like being poisoned on purpose.  It was a very tragic and devastating loss to his family and friends.  Thank you for caring.  I will let his Mom know about this page so she can see that people really DO care <3

What a terrible loss. The graceful message hockeywitch wrote, perfect. May everyone know how loved they are everyday.

I was there, unintentionally while they were trying to revive him because TV was closed. I thought he had fallen and they were successful in helping him, but apparently not. This is very sad and he was so young. Rest In Peace young man.

West Seattle is not a tight community, and everyone is not loved.  These self-soothing platitudes help no one, especially not people like the young man who died.  They do point out elements of what is sadly lacking in modern society, and the isolation that exacerbates mental illness and drug use.

This man was an absolute gem. The fact no one had narcan, no one turned him on his side, NO ONE. CMON.  People. You let a man go at 29 who deserves to continue.  Lacedandlethal.com

How dare you criticize the people who found him. That’s a very messed up thing to say the people who found him or traumatized I’m sure.

      • JUNZHA September 29, 2022 (10:15 am)

@BIG BIRD- People are suffering and have no recourse for the hurt they’ve currently been shocked with, so…BACK OFF.@GUITAR- It doesn’t sound like they would have known what was happening with Treshawn in order to roll him on his side or administer Narcan to him. Hell, he might’ve been dead by the time they found him. It would be beneficial to let openers know that this is a thing they should be aware of, but I could even see that system being abused or misused. It’s horrendous we’ve been denied another beautiful soul due to circumstances beyond most people’s control.

The anger that that Guitar and others feel should be toward the people who  gave the young man whatever caused him to die, and his friends who left him alone.  NOT at the people who found him.  They will carry this with them for many years to come. Truly a  sad day for all involved.

This was a good friend of mine and one of the kindest, most creative, most TALENTED, and most brilliant people in Seattle and indeed on the planet.  A once in a century artist and poet.
