This is very sad to see, and unfortunately this is happening a lot now. If the RV owner is a member of Facebook, there is a group that is really helpful for recovery of stolen vehicles. It is PNW Stolen Cars and the admins give access to the group really fast. They helped us recover our car, same-day. It’s worth a try & they give great info on what to include in a post so it has maximum reach and value for the many many in the group who are helping search for stolen vehicles. Good luck –

My in-laws just had theirs stolen and recovered.  They’re also based in West Seattle. Someone stole the catalytic converter and a few other items then ditched it. Got called in a few days later when someone in Beacon Hill reported it abandoned. Trying to get the exact location it was recovered for you…

I just realized that this RV went North bound up 28th Ave SW near SW Holden at approx. 11:30 this morning. It was under it’s own power, but extraordinarily loud as it slowly made it’s way up the street. There appeared to be a dark gray SUV of some sort just behind it, however that could easily be an unrelated driver.

Four Winds 5000 parked half the day in the alley : Kenyon between 28th and 29th, no back plate.

That’s my alley WWNeighbor. Have you reported it to the SPD citing the case number above? If you haven’t I am willing too, but I would need to walk the alley to confirm it is still present, and specifically where. Glad garbage was yesterday so at least the thief didn’t cause us all to miss our garbage/recycle collection.

WSB. Is there a way to confirm with the original person reporting the vehicle stolen that it is in fact still considered a stolen vehicle? The SPD said this case number had been closed when they came to see the vehicle stalled in the alley. I suppose the owner could have recovered it, then closed the case report with SPD, and then either sold it/or gave it to a friend for more secure storage, all within 36 hours. If it is no longer considered stolen, can you please update the story? I appreciate the clarity so our neighbors and I can pursue getting it off our alley, as it is completely blocking North/South passage. Thanks as always for everything you do for our community.

We update when we hear from people that their stolen vehicles have been recovered (just check the crime archives, you’ll see “update: found” in the headlines when that’s the case), No other way to do it otherwise, SPD has no online info about whether a case is closed or not. I’ll email the RV owner to ask.

That’s all I can hope for. Thank you again for your tireless efforts in keeping us all informed. I will watch the headline and see if it changes if/when the original report gets amended. Cheers!

Sorry, comment time is over.
