From White Center Now: Shooting on 16th SW kills 2

(Texted photo)

4:11 PM: We’re covering this on partner site White Center Now but wanted to let you know here because deputies are blocking 16th SW in the heart of downtown White Center and may extend the closure to Roxbury: At least one person has been shot on 16th SW just south of SW 98th. No arrest reported so far. Updates to come.

4:39 PM: We’re continuing to update the WCN report; the investigation is likely to keep the center of downtown WC blocked for hours to come.

Multiple shell casings have been found and other apparent victims have shown up at Harborview Medical Center.

5:27 PM: Our crew is still at the scene and we expect a briefing soon by KCSO’s spokesperson; we’ll add the update on both sites when that happens. Also, if you’re noticing a helicopter in the area, that’s TV.

5:50 PM: KCSO’s Sgt. Tim Meyer confirms that, as we reported on WCN, four people were shot – and he says two have died. He would not confirm anything else, though, not even whether anyone was in custody. (Added – our video of his briefing:)

This is insane. We were in the middle of the shooting praying for our lives. We were going to the Crafish House to celebrate my birthday, the street looked so busy that we were “lucky” to find a parking spot in front of Taradise Cafe. There were 3 or 4 Black men hanging out in the corner of the Cafe, I was putting my face mask on and getting ready to get out of my car when a White Range Rover stoped almost behind us, then one of the guys hanging in the corner approached the passenger of the Range Rover (I don’t know what they were saying but they were shouting at each other) then the passenger of the Range Rover started shooting at the guy who approached him, then they were shooting back and forth for like a minute. Our first instinct was just to get down and praying we didn’t get shot. When the shooting stoped I saw one guy down next to a gun and another guy trying to help him then the Range Rover drove south to 15th ave. How I know this? Because as soon the shooting stoped I don’t know how but I got out of there as fast as I could, I drove toward 100th street and turned left into 15th ave, when I waking my stop the same white Range Rover drove down speeding, skipping the stop and driving into 14th ave. Everything happened so fast. We tried calling 911 right away but of course no-one answered. I hope they caught the people who got involved in this nonsense, where innocent people like us could’ve been shot to death.

    • Kimberly D Valadez June 11, 2021 (6:38 pm)

That’s not luck. It’s the power of prayer :) Glad your ok.

    • flimflam June 11, 2021 (6:39 pm)

      Nobody answered a 911 call?

      • Luckyone June 11, 2021 (7:37 pm)

Yes, my husband tried calling multiple times. The first two times he was put on hold. The third call somebody answer, he told them about the shooting and location and the dispatcher said “oohh that’s a  king county location, let me transfer your call”. After that We were put on hold again.

If you have trouble getting through, try contacting the Major Crimes Unit (which is investigating) directly. They have email & phone contacts:

          Phone: (206) 263-2090
          Tips: mcutips@kingcounty.gov

        • Shandoo June 11, 2021 (9:28 pm)

Lucky, glad you and yours are ok. How scary. As far as 911, I have a background in wireless, it should have gone to King County Sheriffs Office. Something is broken if you are in a non SPD area and the call goes to SPD,

        • Concerned June 11, 2021 (10:22 pm)

WTF!   Glad you are ok.  Can’t believe the nonsense with 911.  Pathetic 🤦‍♂️

      • jissy June 11, 2021 (7:56 pm)

Probably accurate, FlimFlam….. I called in a fire on the 4th of July in White Center once upon a time and was PUT ON HOLD!

      • ☠️ June 11, 2021 (9:16 pm)

I too was there and it was horrifying.

Maybe fund the police if you want an answer at 911. I bet a lot of people are going out to buy their first handgun tomorrow…

Happy birthday, glad you are alright.

        • Stove June 12, 2021 (7:17 am)

Defund has nothing to do with this 911 call

          • Arevee June 12, 2021 (12:47 pm)

            Exactly

          • DTK June 12, 2021 (5:22 pm)

It certainly does not. I was T-boned in early  January of 2020 in Belltown; before any defund convo was happening. I called 911 and was put on hold for 10 minutes. One has nothing to do with the other.

        • Michael Ostrogorsky June 12, 2021 (1:36 pm)

Because everyone  knows that more guns makes everyone more safe. SMH. Just curious, what do you think would have happened if some third party gun nut started shooting? When the deputies arrived on the scene, how would they have known who was the good guy with a gun versus bad guy with a gun?

        • Aimless blade June 13, 2021 (7:39 am)

There have been exactly ZERO cuts made to the SPD budget. Also, this is under the jury’s diction of King County, where also; ZERO cuts to their budget have been made. Stop inventing fantasies to get yourself outraged about.

      • Rick June 12, 2021 (8:10 am)

Defund the police. Yeah. Great idea. Unless you need them.

        • Aimless blade June 13, 2021 (7:41 am)

The only change to police budgets over the last decade have been increases – not a single budget cut, or reduction of man power. So, it must be the increasing budgets that go along with the increasing crime….

        • This June 13, 2021 (10:27 am)

@Rick, part of the thinking with ‘defunding’ is that by creating and directing funds to other trained resources to be first responders for some situations, will free up specialized police officers to respond to incidents like this one.

Sounds like there are some issues with our emergency call centers. Even if officers aren’t immediately available, aren’t 911 operators trained to stay on the line with callers who are reporting an active crime? Concerning that people are having trouble reaching anyone or being put on hold at length. Do they have a staffing shortage?

          • Facts June 14, 2021 (6:55 am)

Not if the call center is flooded with a barrage of callers especially in situations like this where the incident happened to take place within one block of the county line in addition to the annexation of White Center with as many shots as there was to be heard for a good distance in all directions rather there is auto forwarding based on pings from nearby cell towers I’m sure there were hundreds of calls to both SPD’s and KCSO call center pinged from each jurisdiction flooding both call centers putting every agent available into full response emergency protocol. And as to all the aimless blame(couldn’t have said it better) that is a day in day out whoa from so many readers/commenters it’s really becoming quite pathetic. Assuming you followed every aspect of that false notion offered by one lying Jenny Durken to quickly sweep all that was too much for her to handle under a rug with a remedy that bared no real intent to act upon in an effort to pacify those who truly are and have been victims family to or in association to those personally affected by dirty policing. Which I might add is still taking place but now is instead excused by a reform that in all actuality didn’t even come to surpass a 10% cut using the already put in place measures that the whole country seen due to the mandated stay home stay healthy act only placing a few officers on roll call essentially with a drop in demand for emergency services in turn meant a smaller need to assist. All the blame shifting needs to quit frfr it’s childish and inexcusable and also quite sickening when dispatchers and responding officers use facetious scarcasm referring to shooting people simply because of a request to assist. Personally have seen and dealt with this behavior twice now since the protesting started. And I quote we can’t just shoot whoever stole the vehicle if it’s only over a civil matter. Or another incident where a mother called for assistance with her two full size children who had been fighting her complaint was due to their size she could not gain control herself and was requesting assistance with her oldest and the dispatcher response to this was so you want us to come shoot your daughter! So there is definitely a need to defund maybe even remove all policing if these are there mindsets from the gate and instead employ social workers and licensed psychologist whom are specifically trained to handle tense and highly stressed individuals without the need to carry or use weapons or deadly force.

Thanks Robin,I’m so thankful my husband and I got out of there intact.

    • Snoring Rabbit June 11, 2021 (7:40 pm)

@Luckyone I hope that you give a statement to the police asap, if you haven’t done so already, while it’s fresh in your mind. Those may be important details.

    • ACG June 11, 2021 (7:51 pm)

I’m so thankful you are okay. If you haven’t already, please try calling 911 again to offer that information towards the investigation. They will answer eventually, if you can keep trying (although that is terrifying that no one answered on your initial call!). I’m thankful you are okay.

    • Tofuandmocha June 11, 2021 (8:07 pm)

I hope you and my tio are okay after this stupid nonsense.

      • Luckyone June 12, 2021 (1:16 pm)

Honestly, I’m still in shock Tofuandmocha. I keep replaying how everything happened so fast and how closed we were to get killed.

    • alkiannie June 11, 2021 (10:19 pm)

I’m very sorry to hear about your day. That sounds awful.  And it was your birthday! I hope you are able to celebrate another time. Was there a reason you identified the victims and perpetrators as “Black men” and not “men” or “people”?  I noticed that you didn’t provide your own race or the races of the other “innocent people” as you described them.  You weren’t providing an ID to the police, so it wasn’t a necessary detail to provide in the story.

    • LaTikia Ford June 12, 2021 (6:22 am)

Thank you for your information that was my cousin who was killed an other 2 still fighting for life

So sorry for your loss, prayers for all, and hope the rest of your family is safe. I can only imagine the pain and fear you all may be feeling.

I’m sorry for your loss. I hope they find whoever did this to your family.

      • Facts June 14, 2021 (8:05 am)

All of which could have very well been prevented in the matter at whole if the police were actually enforced to uphold the duties that are simply required of them through responding to all emergencies that take place and require assistance within the jurisdictions in which taxpayers pay taxes to the city to maintain and provide thus services removing all barriers preventing tax dollars and the individuals whose duties are to protect assist and serve righteously without discrimination along with responding to heinous crimes committed with thorough investigations that conclude with suspects of interest and actually do their job in detecting those individuals whereabouts bringing them to face justice. Why hasn’t Lorenzo’s murderer been brought to justice how is it that kids with no relation are aware of roundabout locations of said individual but yet law enforcement has yet to take any measures to apprehend.Adding insult to injury in a case that clearly shows just how modern day racism against black and brown tax paying citizens is still very much alive refusing individuals the right to due justice and all the same services offered to white people. There is a much bigger picture here than just a defund to debate (which i might add is the poorest choice of words to use)better term would be a overhaul of funds allocated introducing a fiscal forecast retrospective to adequately assist equally efficiently and effectively through proper program placement with specified services that better suit the criteria and nature of the call or scenario at hand. And a complete recall on current policy as of to date. We need a more rigorous approach in screening and re-training all public safety officers to ensure proper protection of all parties removing to decrease the need for deadly force holding no preconceived judgments and basing bias on personal opinions from previous influencers.

    • Jim June 12, 2021 (12:17 pm)

Was meeting my daughter half hour later after shooting. Police everywhere and tape blocking the whole area. A white car had crashed into the corner  market. Gun shot to the head. Crazy. Glad you’re ok.

    • Luckyone June 12, 2021 (1:20 pm)

Thanks all for your kind words! We gave our statement to the detectives already. I hope this helps in someway! Stay safe..

  • Christina P. June 11, 2021 (5:50 pm)

Thanks for the updates – we the neighbors appreciate it very much.

    • WSB June 11, 2021 (5:58 pm)

The KCSO spokesperson wouldn’t confirm much of what we got from monitoring radio exchanges and from being there but he did have one bit of news, as added above – 2 of the 4 victims (we reported on WCN that three more people had been “dropped off” at Harborview) have died. Should have briefing video when our photographer gets back.

  • Mel June 11, 2021 (6:00 pm)

I’m so tired of this activity/behavior in our neighborhood.

  • TJ June 11, 2021 (6:00 pm)

The business this occured in front of has had multiple shootings and a stabbing in the last few years. Can’t just be bad luck. How about close it down finally? White Center, take back your community. Unfortunately this has been the case for 50 years

    • Ar June 11, 2021 (10:39 pm)

You mean the only establishment where POC folks still feel like they belong in? WC has been whitewash the last couple of years and it’s sad that incidents like this happen but to blame it on a female own establishment that the original residents of WC go to is a bit too gentrification if you ask me but then again what do I know I’m just an uncultured uncivilized peasant.

  • AN June 11, 2021 (6:04 pm)

Helicopter has been flying around for at least an hour. thought I heard my shots around 530

    • WSB June 11, 2021 (6:13 pm)

This happened a few minutes before 4. Haven’t heard anything about 5:30 pm shots.

  • StopCuttingDownTrees June 11, 2021 (6:18 pm)

That area has simply become too dangerous in the recent couple of years. We avoid that whole area after sunset and limit our exposure during the day. When driving on Roxbury, I don’t linger at the very-long red stoplights at 15th, 16th, and 17th late at night.

  • lisa white June 11, 2021 (6:29 pm)

I just drove through there. The whole town, for the most part, is shut down

  • Danny June 11, 2021 (6:33 pm)

This is wild. I was picking my son up from the daycare center the block over just before 4p. I literally threw him into the car when I heard the shots… I feel bad for the innocents that got caught in the middle of this nonsense…

    • Pf June 11, 2021 (8:45 pm)

Harborview was on lock down , now just the area around the 9th and Jefferson the ED entrance, surmise that gang retaliation

    • ☠️ June 11, 2021 (9:28 pm)

That makes me so sad and I hope your kid is ok. Makes me really really mad too.Pls pls everyone, get rid of the bad cops but fund the police big time.  Really and truly fund, and really show the good ones that they’re seriously appreciated. This will be so much harder to fix when it gets a lot worse. This was terrifying and I won’t sleep tonight. Never ending gunfight.

    • JCW June 11, 2021 (11:30 pm)

I picked up my kid at the same daycare just after 5. Had no idea this had occurred until I got to 17th. I thought there was a lock-down procedure, but apparently they weren’t even notified by KCSO. The director asked me what I knew, and I mentioned this post. Classes were still out on the playground watching the helicopter.

  • Rick June 11, 2021 (6:45 pm)

I miss Perkins,  we used to go there after church and no worrying about shootings.

  • Flo B June 11, 2021 (6:47 pm)

Looks like all 3 tv stations have their choppers up.

    • WSB June 11, 2021 (6:49 pm)

There are two TV helicopters in Seattle. One is shared by two stations. So if there are three flying, the third is something else.

  • Eric June 11, 2021 (8:25 pm)

It’s terrible yes. I’ve lived in white center all my life. This isn’t exactly a new thing. For those shocked people maybe you’re new here. This wasn’t a middle class neighborhood, so anyone talking about how much crazier it is hasn’t lived here very long. This is a tragic thing but white center was always a gang hub and a violent place to some degree. Gentrification will not turn this into magnolia.

    • alkiannie June 11, 2021 (10:20 pm)

Oh, but it will.  Gentrification will turn it into Magnolia, sooner than you think.

    • Luckyone June 12, 2021 (1:31 pm)

So you’re saying because this isn’t exactly a new thing, it should be looked as a “normal” thing?? I honestly think that it’s not the place but dangerous people who make the place unsafe. We as a community should be aware of our surroundings and inform the police of any suspicious activity going on right away, this is how we can prevent this kind of tragedy not just look away and say to yourself that this is “not a new thing” and walk away.

      • Jim June 13, 2021 (9:23 pm)

I was going to see some friends at that time my brother called me to rent tool at whitecenter rental don’t know of any other bar around here that wands customers was not sketchy when it was marvs

    • Elle Nell June 12, 2021 (8:55 pm)

Eric— Thank you for the real talk…  and honestly, moving isn’t a bad thing when you are scared in your hood.

  • valvashon June 11, 2021 (8:38 pm)

Now?  Is now the time we finally, as a society, start buying back, confiscating and melting down the guns?  The second amendment you hold so dear was a racist construct designed to entice the southern states into joining the union by legalizing the slave patrols.  This is what a “Well Regulated Militia” actually means and there are great books on this by Thom Hartmann and Carol Anderson if you want to know more.

    • This June 11, 2021 (9:41 pm)

      Yes please.

      No more guns.

And while we’re at it, how about no more violence, harassment, and harming others, of any kind. Please.

Very sad, and scary for those nearby, prayers for all affected.

    • Canton June 11, 2021 (9:47 pm)

The second amendment was created so civilians could bear arms, just as the military. Equal ground. It was brought about so us regular citizens, could protect our lives and property, if the government wasn’t able. Keep in mind, civilians pay a hefty price to own a firearm legally. A firearm that was stolen, or used already in a crime, sells for pennies on the dollar on the street. It’s the “criminals ” that have guns are the problem. If it’s bought at street level with crimes attributed to it, that makes it a throw away weapon.

      • Jort June 11, 2021 (11:32 pm)

The second amendment was created so civilians could bear arms, just as the military. Equal ground.  Sweet! Where can I buy my rocket launcher, attack drone, tank and nuclear bomb? Come on! Equal ground, right? Come on why not?!?!

        • Canton June 12, 2021 (11:41 pm)

Ask yourself, how many countries in our current world, are controlled either voluntarily, or unvoluntarily by the military. Those countries have no fear of uprising. In our land of freedom, if the government can’t protect our livelihoods,  we can. Bottom line, it’s not the guns. If someone wants to harm or kill someone, a bat, knife, rock, a roll of pennies, can kill as well. Should we outlaw all those items as well?

          • This June 13, 2021 (7:37 am)

Okay then by your argument, civilians shouldn’t need guns to protect themselves in an ‘uprising.’ Why can’t they just use a bat, knife, rock, a roll of pennies?

One thing I find interesting, is all the folks who are pro gun un case of a needed uprising to protect their interests, yet don’t understand or respect the protests after George Floyds death, which were by in large peaceful, not large crowds of gun holding folks with intent to overthrow the governement.

          • Pessoa June 13, 2021 (10:15 am)

Correct.  I find it intriguingthat those who are most likely to believe that we just had four years of a Sinclair Lewis- type fascistic regime – somewhat hysterically – are the same people who want to forcibly strip guns from law-abiding fellow Americans.   Even more odd is the fact that these same people no doubt believe that Jan 6th riot was an armed insurrection, when in fact the “weapons” consisted of pepper spray, baseball bats, etc.

            Good movie!

If someone can provide statistical data which supports that ‘law abiding citizens’ bearing arms actually results in more good and saves lives vs more incidents of former law abiding citizens using their weapon recklessly, or it getting into the wrong hands, guns used harmfully, etc. and causing more loss of life, I’ll reconsider my concerns and perspective.

      • Pessoa June 12, 2021 (8:35 pm)

You are conflating the origins of the NRA (which has also been distorted by anti-gun activists who have tried to link it’s founding to slavery) with the  origins of the 2nd Amendment.  The 2nd Amendment arose out of the founders fear of a tyrannical government and specifically, a federalized army, hence the “well-regulated militia.”  There is simply no historical debate about this.

    • ☠️ June 11, 2021 (9:47 pm)

I think you should save your political attack for another time. People just died and your idea of a solution is quite possibly not a solution at all.Totally ignorant and inappropriate.

      • Matt P June 11, 2021 (11:10 pm)

It is not totally ignorant and inappropriate because scores of people die every day from gun violence and the response is always the same – now is the not the time, thoughts and prayers, etc.  Now is always the right time but yesterday was better.

      • Jort June 11, 2021 (11:34 pm)

You know, people are also entitled to their accurate and factual opinion that people shouldn’t have access to firearms to commit crimes like these in the first place. Melt the guns down now and forcibly remove them from every home in America. GONE AND GONE.

      • 🌱 June 11, 2021 (11:40 pm)

    • WW Resident June 12, 2021 (4:53 am)

Give me a break! You think for a minute that taking guns away from law abiding citizens is going to make this go away? No, the criminals will still find a way to get guns. The gang banging culture of I’ll shoot you for just disrespecting me will still thrive. Case in point, with all the strict gun laws in Chicago, shootings and homicides are out of control. Google Chicago shootings for Fathers day, Memorial Day, etc and you’ll see that Chicago homicides in only one weekend are almost the equivalent to Seattle for an entire year! Chicago had 2,800 shootings in a 6 month span. Taking away guns from law abiding citizens won’t fix this because criminals will always find a way to get a gun

      • This June 12, 2021 (10:11 am)

Yes actually, it logically follows that fewer guns out there means likely fewer gun crimes will happen.

Removing guns as suggested here isn’t the complete answer, but maybe its a step in the right direction. Much more is needed, including voting for leaders who understand and will prioritize and direct funds in the community in ways will help better solve these issues.

Also, ‘law abiding’ gun owners are only so until they have a bad day and a case of road rage, then that person who just had a gun ‘for self protection’, becomes one of the criminals. Not all, but this happens too often. Road rage is just one example, but there are many shootings that occur as the result of a previously law abiding white person losing their cool and misusing their weapon. Specifically calling out white people since folks are all too often quick to point out crimes that involve black people. White people commit violent crimes too..

      • 🌱 June 12, 2021 (11:14 am)

Have you… never heard of cars and the interstate highway system? Repeating once again, why is America the only country where this happens? In the whole wide world? No way to prevent this. Guess we’ll never know

        • WW Resident June 13, 2021 (9:56 am)

Did you know that in 2018 London (where guns are illegal) had more homicides than New York City? Or a terrorist in France killed 96 people using a semi truck? Or while I was visiting Japan a few years ago, on the news was multiple people killed in an apartment building because a son tried to kill his parents blowing up their apartment, only to blow up multiple apartments creating mass murder. Go Google this last weekend shootings in “gun free”. Chicago. Not true. Don’t have time to factcheck the rest but London had 132 homicides in 2018, NYC had 289 (which was significantly below average).

      • This June 12, 2021 (11:52 am)

Yes, maybe fewer guns out there means fewer gun crimes will happen. And not just crimes like this incident, but all gun related crimes.

Removing guns isn’t the complete answer, but maybe its one step in the right direction. Much more is needed, like voting for leaders who understand and will prioritize and direct funds in the community in ways will help better solve these issues.

        • Jim June 12, 2021 (2:04 pm)

Disarming the citizens will do nothing to stop criminals from evil deeds.

    • Mel June 12, 2021 (5:28 am)

Sorry but confiscating legal gun owners guns will not cure the problem of gang violence. There are far too many illegal guns floating around on the streets. Drugs seem to be illegal too, yet I see people walking down the street high on meth or heroin daily. Why don’t we actually start putting serious penalties behind gun crimes? No one wants anyone to sit in jail, but a lot of these crimes could be prevented or reduced if some of these people weren’t still on the streets.

    • Jim June 12, 2021 (2:03 pm)

I’m sorry, but you have a mistaken notion of history. The Second amendment had little to do with slavery and everything to do with the belief that the Founding fathers had to limit the power of the government over the people. But this has nothing to do with this situation. Hopefully they catch the fools responsible and put them away.

    • Suzie June 12, 2021 (4:23 pm)

Adding guns to a situation never improves a situation. Get rid of the guns. Period. Lots of folks responding here need a history lesson on the second amendment.

    • WSDUDEMAN June 12, 2021 (9:53 pm)

Unfortunately the people involved in this shooting aren’t the people who will give up their guns. You need to actually prosecute gun crimes. Throw the book at them for possession or use of unregistered firearms. Punishing law abiding citizens for having firearms doesn’t make a city safer.

      • StopCuttingDownTrees June 13, 2021 (8:29 pm)

There’s no such thing as “registered” firearms.

  • KT June 11, 2021 (9:10 pm)

Always a problem dialing 911 south of Roxbury.  Always goes to Seattle 911 then they have to transfer you to the KC Sherrif’s office.  Always frustrating.

  • Mudman June 11, 2021 (9:26 pm)

Lucky,  Be sure to report your experience to the police while it is still fresh, if you haven’t already.Thanks. Glad you’re ok.It’s disheartening this kind of thing.911 works, it just takes a few minutes.  It calls Seattle. They transfer to King County. One good reason to accept annexation.

My son and I patronized the Taradise when it was newly opened several years ago and afterwards I thought never again…… We had lunch on a Saturday and there were a lot of people drunk already,  people I would not want to pass on a dark sidewalk. The place has  had shootings just outside previously – correct? Unfortunately it seems to attract a rough and rowdy crowd. So sad that people have to resort to firing guns at each other. I hope the police track them down, take away their guns, and the courts give them a sentence for their stupid behaviors. Luckyone, you were lucky. I am sorry you had to experience this trauma and violence – no one should be a part of that nonsense!

  • River June 11, 2021 (11:26 pm)

Please stop putting our families in danger A-holes.  Your gangs are for losers.

  • SafeOnOurIsland June 12, 2021 (12:32 am)

At the 34th Legislative District Democrats endorsement meeting earlier this week, one of the people speaking on behalf of candidate Randall made mention of the escalating violence and murders happening in the Rainier Valley area. He said that although West Seattle has not been affected by the violence, that he hoped our district would have a heart for other parts of the city, and asked that the 34th consider endorsing Randall, because we need someone who can empathize with the youth and the violence happening outside of our area (summary). Of the 350 members in attendance, only 7 voted for Randall.  Public safety and gun violence is not a concern in the 34th. #SafeOnOurIsland

    • Raye June 12, 2021 (1:12 am)

Wait…what? The  guy speaking on behalf of Randall said “West Seattle has not been affected by the violence”??? What does that even mean – do we not have violent crimes in West Seattle? Here’s just one example that undermines his statement, from the West Seattle Blog: “Man shot while driving in Alki alley, suspect arrested.” I honestly don’t get what he’s talking about. Am I misinterpreting what he said?

  • Sarcastic Observer June 12, 2021 (7:00 am)

The people that commit these crimes need to be jailed for a very long time. That is the ONLY way these violent acts will decrease.

  • chris June 12, 2021 (9:33 am)

Luckyone, so glad you managed to escape danger. No doubt that was a scay situation. You  are a lucky one! Reading your detailed description it sounds like the perp is the one laying on the ground.   Though I’ve never been to Taradise, numerous reviews say the food is good if you can handle the clientel. Not sure what that means but now I can guess. Young men with guns, and the brains of a 6 year old.

    • Luckyone June 12, 2021 (12:06 pm)

Yeah, it’s one is these experiences that you will never forget. I wish no one goes to this experience ever. We’ve never been there either, only to the Crawfish House but I guess now I have to learn how to cook crab.

Latikia Ford, I’m very sorry for your loss of family. The comments here are ranging in many directions but please trust that many, many  more people are keeping you and your family in their thoughts today.  I hope for a greater good to  keep you and your loved ones strong.

  • justme June 12, 2021 (10:06 am)

Put one in jail, and another one pops up. There’s more to it than jail time. It is not the only thing we need to do.

  • Brandon June 12, 2021 (11:56 am)

Well, this does suck but, sounds like some silly ass “beef” dropped 2 people 6 feet under.  When caught (because I’m certain they will have to brag about it), they’ll have many years behind walls to see how effin dumb ass their decision was.  Meanwhile, I’m gonna keep frequenting White Center, from Full Tilt with my 3 year old, to Blu Grouse, the best bar up there.  This shit is rare and you clowns saying this is on the daily obviously aren’t around much.

    • Ned Nederlander June 12, 2021 (10:52 pm)

This. White center is safe. The bus stop by Walgreens after midnight…maybe not so much, but it’s a reasonably safe part of town.

  • 🤨 Fed-up WCer June 12, 2021 (3:40 pm)

When will the County and WA State Liquor Control Board wake up and put the screws to Taradise? That place has been a magnet and cross section of trouble for years. Yeah, yeah, everybody loves Tara. Blah blah blah. When a business continues to be a center point of neighborhood trouble, it’s time to reevaluate. There is no question that place holds bad karma, and the loiterers and patrons have caused more issues than any other business in WC! Tara needs to rethink her contribution to our community. Perhaps relocate or give it a rest. There are no coincidences here.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the mother of one of the victims, Tyrone Anthony Harris, Jr. His mother has now lost three of her sons. I can’t think of a better way to help another mother on Juneteenth or Tyrone’s children on Father’s day, during such relentless pain for this family.  If it’s in your heart, please consider giving.https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-the-family-of-tyrone-harris?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf%20share-flow-1&fbclid=IwAR18-IziMgquhKrHgEZKPgCZehfbmBUADTjyEEnufzz5YLWrRT0iNTQSdL4
