UPDATE: Rescue response for North Delridge crash

7:41 PM: Seattle Fire has a rescue response for a crash in the 4400 block of 26th SW. One person is reported trapped. A texter says it’s a flipped vehicle. We are headed there. Updates to come.

7:55 PM: Police say the driver whose car went sideways hit a parked car. The driver is being taken to the hospital. (This is on 26th – which is a neighborhood greenway – just south of Genesee, just west of Delridge Community Center.)

Here’s an aerial shot of the scene.

I would really like to know how fast this driver was going. One week ago two youths driving a borrowed car hit multiple parked cars on delridge and then on 26th, drove over the traffic circle, and abandoned the totalled, smoking car in front of our house. What’s up, North delridge?

Too many flipped cars lately. Too much speed? I can only imagine.

I didn’t have a visual, but the sound of the impact led me to believe that they were well above the speed limit. There is a speed bump just north of the scene of impact, which would have caused the driver to lose control given that they were going fast enough. It should also be noted that the driver hit two parked cars (Mazda seen here and a van that had its mirror clipped).I’m glad that no bystanders were hurt…I hope that SPD reviews this for recklessness.

I was there and saw the whole thing. He didn’t appear to be speeding, but he was coming toward me (I was across the street), so it was hard to tell.  He hit a car and the van went up the side of it then flipped on its side. Is there an update on how he’s doing? I hope he’s ok.

How do you flip a car at 25 MPH (the posted speed limit). Seems very hard to do.

      It’s not hard at all.

Yes it is. It’s a 4000 lbs object.

There has been a lot of extreme speeding down 34th Ave SW as well. This is a street that is supposed to be closed with local access only as part of the Stay Healthy Streets. People are walking in the road and unless the “local traffic only” is enforced somebody will eventually be hurt by the excessive joy ride speeding.

Sorry, comment time is over.
