BIZNOTES: Need to read? Updates from Pegasus Book Exchange, Paper Boat Booksellers

We have updates today from West Seattle’s independent local bookstores:

PEGASUS BOOK EXCHANGE: This Junction bookstore is now offering delivery, within 3 miles of the store, on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays. They’ll take orders via email – pegasusbookexchange (at) gmail.com – and get back to you with a cost. Delivery fee is $5 but will be waived for purchases over $50. Here’s an image of the full announcement. Pegasus’s store is still open, too – 4553 California SW (and they have an online shop here).

PAPER BOAT BOOKSELLERS: This Morgan Junction bookstore also working on delivery. Meantime, some other changes. From co-proprietor Desirae:

We will be reducing our hours temporarily starting tomorrow 3/13. For right now, we feel that this is necessary due to school closures as well as the health and safety of our team and our customers. We will find every way we can to get books into the hands of those who need them!!! We are working on our online store right now and plan to deliver to those who can’t make it in – more details to come… Family reading time is canceled for the remainder of the month! Still happening: Classic Novels Book Club this Sunday at 2:00! As always – feel free to call or email us with questions and to place your book orders. We love you, West Seattle, and we will work together to create a stronger, more healthy community by supporting each other as best we can!

Paper Boat is at 6040 California SW.

I can’t say enough about the awesomeness of Pegasus and its staff. I am sure the same goes for Paper Boat, I just haven’t been much yet since they opened. Social distance with some great books and order from or visit these great local businesses, especially since the libraries just announced they are closing!

Pegasus, you’re the best!  And we’ll all be needing a lot more books as this goes on.

Oh my gosh, how have I gone this long without ever checking the Pegasus website?! The bookshop recommendations — love the categories! Pegasus is amazing   :-)

I’m a huge fan of Paper Boat Booksellers and have been since their opening day. They are great about taking and filling special orders in cases where they don’t already have the book you’re after. That they’re willing to deliver is another nice bonus during these difficult times, though if you pick up your books in person, say! there’s Little Prague right across the street.  Neighboring Youngstown Coffee is also excellent and, just to round out the supply run for social isolation, there’s a wine shop a few doors up as well.

Thank you Mary for mentioning the nearby places as well. I just told a friend who discovered Youngstown that you can place an order to go for a delicious lunch and then walk next door to shop and buy a book or two at Paper Boat as your lunch is being prepared! Support two small very new to the neighborhood businesses at once. I’ll be doing that this weekend.

Another fan of this bookstore. I went the other day, based on the exterior I, for some reason, thought it would be a small place. People, it is an AWESOME store!

Thanks to our wonderful customers and this incredible community!  We have had an amazing response from patrons wanting to help out with deliveries  as well as by signing up for our delivery service. This is part of why WS is the greatest!  Thanks to Tracy and the WSB for helping make the interruption in everybody’s life a bit easier to handle.
