I was just behind a three car pile up on the first ave bridge…don’t tailgate people!Anyway…those cars are pretty messed up so may take a bit to clear that mess.

Ahh look at that beautiful line of cars all waiting to get NB on 99…if only there was an extra lane somewhere….

I see that the ill-informed re-institution of the bus lane on NB 99 continues to wreak its havoc with EB bridge traffic backed up beyond Alaska.

I’m a bus rider. The extension of the bus lane on 99 sucks. Now my bus gets stuck coming down Admiral and merging onto 99. Come on people, fix this! This seriously tops my frustration with the Pioneer Square mess, which is ongoing. Tipping point? Coming soon.

Since 99 is a state highway, is WSDOT responsible for designating that lane as bus only?

For the last several weeks I’ve had to drive into work once a week instead of the bus. I had been taking the WS Bridge to 99N and it has been an easy trip with no backups getting onto 99. Today, the right lane was backed up to the Delridge on-ramp. Ridiculous. And all because of a bus lane extension that wasn’t needed. The buses may have a lane to bypass the backup on the actual bridge, but they still have to fight with the backed-up traffic on the ramp to 99 which is adding time to the bus trips too. Maddening.

If you’re not happy with the bus lane, as it seems a lot of car and bus commuters are not, take a minute to let Councilwoman Herbold know! I’m not blaming her but that’s one thing district elections are about: to get someone to stand up to the city departments when we need it.

100% agree that the bus lane is unnecessary and makes travel times worse for cars AND buses.  Maybe as a compromise, if WSDOT/SDOT/Metro (or whoever is in charge of bus lanes) are not willing to remove the bus lane, they could agree to make the bus lane a “Dearborn exit OK” lane.  This would reduce the number of vehicles needing to merge at the 99 on-ramp.  I’m sure that wouldn’t stop a lot of drivers from using the lane anyway and merging right before the tunnel, especially since there’s no enforcement of the current bus lane, but it’s an idea that might at least improve the situation a little.

Sorry, comment time is over.
