SMOKE: Advice for protecting pets

With a little old indoor cat keeping us company here at WSB HQ, we’ve been wondering whether he’s feeling the effects of the smoky air too. No outward signs – he’s sleeping a lot, but well, he always sleeps a lot. Anyway, in case you also share your life with pets, here’s advice from the Seattle Animal Shelter on the best ways to protect their health while we’re blanketed in smoke.

Our indoor kitties are sleeping more than normal.  I think they may be reacting to our inactivity.

Thank you so much for this timely reminder, WSB. Our cats seem to be choosing to stay inside more during these smoky days rather than out on the deck. We wonder if it might be the disturbing smell of the air, since cats are so much more “scent-sitive” than humans. People of all species will be glad when the air clears once more!

Sorry, comment time is over.
