TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Monday updates

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

7:02 AM: Good morning! No incidents reported in/from West Seattle so far.

WATER TAXI SCHEDULE CHANGE: Another reminder, today is the start of the West Seattle Water Taxi’s fall/winter schedule.

That’s 5 days a week, am/pm commute times only – find the schedule here.

LAST WEEK OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME: This Saturday night/Sunday morning, we “fall back” an hour into standard time.

8:01 AM: No details but there’s an SFD medical response to the EB bridge exit to NB I-5. (Added) WSDOT says it’s a crash partly blocking the ramp.

8:32 AM: SDOT reports a collision on 35th SW near Kenyon.

Lights on Delridge were not light indicating the low bridge was closed to traffic.  Now I’m stuck.  Who donee report this to?  Is it the city?

      SDOT hotline 206 684 ROAD

Sadly, due to SDOT ineptitude, this isn’t the first time the lights indicating an open lower bridge haven’t operated, especially during the morning commute.

I had submitted a “Find it, Fix it” request on that signal about 2 months ago after seeing it not work a couple times at bridge openings but I don’t know what happened from there. I’m going to take a wild guess and say nothing.

As co-proprietor of an online entity, I might be an unusual person to hear this from, but for some particularly crucial things like transportation-related problems, I highly recommend calling when you can, in hopes of reaching an actual live person, which results in proof that somebody has at least heard the report. I’ve heard too many reports like yours, including from longtime community advocates talking about things at meetings. – TR
